Exeter Engineering are specialists with over 50 years' combined experience in fully bespoke restorations of classic and vintage cars, bikes and other vehicles. We also carry out smaller improvement works and individual part restoration, precision engineering work and everything in between. Founded by David Hodnett and Aaron Newborne, Exeter Engineering is a trusted and experienced classic vehicle restoration company based in the heart of Devon.

Here you'll find our portfolio of many of the jobs we have completed or been involved in, from engine rebuilds through to full restorations and all the bits and pieces in between! This E type Jaguar under went under a full mechanical and body restoration which was completed in mid 2019. The V12 engine was completely overhauled, along with the gearbox, differential, and all the running gear.

Dave , Aaron and their team did a fantastic job on my Triumph Vitesse when the head gasket failed. Talking me through the process and letting me know of other faults found on the car. The result was the car now drives the best it ever has in the seven years I have owned the car. I was very impressed with the knowledge and commitment these guys have. Totally recommended!

Exeter Engineering came recommended too me and they did not disappoint, my motorcycle carbs where grubby and dark, David and the team stripped them, vapour blasted them, then replated all the linkages and put them back together with new rebuild kits, they look amazing, thanks for all the hard work guys and great service.

The team have completely overhauled our 50 year old 2CV... They have been incredibly helpful at every stage of the process, identifying what needed to be done and making sensible suggestions to keep her running and to pass her MOT. Superb to deal with, extremely knowledgeable and have looked after our car beautifully. We've just picked her up... All the work that was required has been done perfectly and she is a dream to drive now. Would have no hesitation using them again in the future for this or any other classic car.

I contacted Aaron and his colleagues in the hope that they might be able to make a modified version in brass of a vintage guitar part - a tremolo block - that has long since been out of production. I was extremely impressed with the finished result, not only in terms of the quality of the product but also with the effort they took to get everything right and create exactly what was needed. Exeter Engineering Solutions did a great job of sorting the carburettor and engine problems caused by a previous garage on my 1973 MGB GT engine rebuild.
David and his team are very knowledgable, have high standards and very helpfully. Invoices are very clear with all the information and the premises are also excellent.

I really cannot fault the resourcefulness, effort and dedication to get the engine of my MGA up and running. Where others would have thrown the towel in and taken the easy route out Exeter Engineering persevered to implement my requested non-standard engine modification. Whether they would undertake it again is a different question (!) but I'm very happy.

Exeter Engineering undertook both mechanical and electrical work on my vehicle. I rely on this truck for work so both speed and quality was important and they really did not disappoint.
The work to the brakes was checked and double checked, making a huge difference to the vehicle and to my peace of mind. The electrical work has given my vehicle an extra dimension in the dark. Both bits of work were tidy, efficient and great value.
Great service and communication throughout, highly professional and superb value.
