Mediterranean Cafe
Whether spending time in Soho, shopping in the West End or visiting one of the 25 theatres near to us, we would love to see you at our independent restaurant by Berwick Street Market. Our new member of the team, chef Gulsah, has great experience (over 15 years!). She will serve you freshly prepared Gzleme 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, at the front of Med Bar between 12 and 2:30pm.

Looking forward to see you all! We are an independent Soho restaurant in the heart of London's popular West End. Established in 1987, The Mediterranean Cafe is an oasis of calm in an area known for its vibrancy. We specialise in the food you'll find throughout the warm Mediterranean: from meze to falafel, succulent steaks to beautifully grilled fish and seafood.

I love this place. It’s like stepping into a different world. Wonderful, friendly service and delicious down-to-earth cuisine. I had the calamari and vegetable moussaka. My children loved it too

It's not fine dining (it's a licensed cafe), tasty food at not an exorbitant price for central London tourist zone. Plenty for a veggie they had the moussaka I had chicken. Two empty plates. We sat under the speaker and the waitress turned down music when asked. Good service, speedy. Loo was clean. We went on a Tuesday night so it wasn't so crowded. Newspaper cutting on wall is from 1999 - 3 courses for a tenner!

Gorgeous food, affordable, had the spag bol and Penne Pollo. Didn't have to wait too long either considering it was a busy Saturday lunch time. Would definitely come back here again without doubt. And would definitely recommend to all my friends and family

Used to love this place in the past; it was my go to place to bring friends from out of town to. Recently visited for the first time since late 2019 and feel like standards have slipped a bit. The owner is as nice and accommodating as always, but service from wait staff was lacklustre and inattentive. Had to ask for some things several times, and they weren't that friendly imo. Food was not bad, but not as good as I remember it to be, and they didn't have what I was hoping to order on this occasion, which was a little disappointing. I hope that the warm and welcoming spirit of the restaurant that

Our favourite restaurant in town! Great food and atmosphere! Always a warm welcome from the staff especially Paris and owner Ali, the Mediterranean Cafe is more like eating at your home than a restaurant!

Really nice food, great scene and awesome vibes. Been coming here for years, managed to make a friendship with the Owner who always makes me feel special whenever i turn up. If you work around central, having lunch here is also a great option, apart from the normal menu they have lunch take aways. BEST PLACE EVER!!

I've never stayed and had a meal at the restaurant but I've had take away. I work locally and was looking for something fast, warm and inexpensive and I stumbled into this place. And let me just say, it's one of the best lamb kebabs I've ever had!!!

I had a great experience at Med Cafe. The staff was really nice and I got to meet the owner who was extremely sweet. The food was excellent although a little less for what I was expecting from the price. I had The Mediterranean spicy sausage pasta and stuffed apricots for dessert! The stuffed apricots were delicious

Excellent, relatively inexpensive food in Soho, where most of the other restaurants have jaw-dropping prices. The prawn and avocado salad was my favorite. The moussaka was good, too. I'll go back the next time I am in London

I've only been here for lunch when they started doing the quick takeaway counter, and it's such a great deal. I think it rivals savage salad in terms of flavor, but I have a huge weakness for Mediterranean food, so there bias is strong with me! Either way, it's definitely an "always check first" when it comes to lunchtime. Always.

I totally judged this place by its unremarkable tourist-ville cover, and was pleasantly surprised! A group of us were being sensible between drinking stops and stopped in for a bite before we had to make our bar reservation. One of the girls had booked ahead and we got a table for 11 downstairs; it looks like they're well set up to expect big groups as we had a party of 14 right next to us.
The service was so friendly - it was really refreshing to find not a hint of snootiness when we said we were just going to order a mix of starters for everyone and most of us ordered tap water.

This is the cheapest joint with very low quality food! We were a group of 12 and no one was happy. The price does not correspond to the quality, in other words you pay a lot for what it is!

Very tasty food. The interior was nice and cozy, the service friendly and charming. Great location. I had a vegetarian moussaka and the halloumi as a starter. Both really delicious.

Fairly good main course pasta, however the desert was a very bland banoffee pie which had clearly sat in the fridge for a long while and my accomplice had the stuffed apricots, also very bland and clearly pre prepared however one had been remover from the plate leaving a gap, whilst other tables clearly had all three! However was cheap and so couldn't expect anything amazing.

We stopped in here for dinner with friends visiting from out of town. We just wanted to sit somewhere and have a bite to eat.

I suspected that the restaurant's name, Mediterranean, would probably be an attempt to cover every country that touches that body of water. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but it's rarely a good thing. I asked the waitress where the chef was from (he's Turkish) so decided to focus on something from that region. They have a great prix fixe menu - 2 courses for £16 - so I settled for the spinach and feta fritters followed by the kofte. The fritters

This is a place that my boyfriend used to frequent many years ago, when he worked in the area and in late August, he brought me hear with his parents for breakfast.

The breakfast deal is amazing- a full English with tea/coffee for five pounds. London is an expensive town and this is a great deal. The food is plentiful and tasty. I'm not a huge fan of breakfast and specifically heavy breakfast items, but I ate my meal and enjoyed it.

The server was nice and the place had an eclectic/fun vibe. I would definitely try it for lunch or dinner and go back for breakfast.

Went here for the set menu lunch (£8.95 for two courses) and it was very tasty though a little salty. I recommend the mediterranean chicken that I had. However the decor is a little old and the place feels a bit tired.

As a huge fan of Turkish food, I decided to try out the Mediterranean Cafe, and decided to try out this little haunt in Soho.

When we were sat down, I was dismayed that the sizes of the table were relatively small and the restaurant felt rather cramped. However, the noise level was okay enough to be able to talk without needing to raise voices. The decor on the walls is of several theatre production posters, which I thought was a bit random, but I guess it is the West End.

Also confusing was some of the items on the menu didn't really seem Mediterranean, such as a Sirloin Steak or Cheeseburger

Mediterranean cafe is probably the only place about which I don't really know what to say. Like someone else mentioned, I find it a bit confusing. But maybe that's the interesting side about it.

I went for dinner and there was no "woaah" factor, but it was not bad either. The menu is very simple, nothing glamourous but good & decent (my steak was cooked to my expectations - believe me, this is something rare) and the service was great all the way. The decor is really heavy/busy - you can barely see the colour of the walls - with posters of west end shows all over, statues

Fantastic staff, so friendly and passionate about what they do. I went in on my own late on a Tuesday; I just needed a bite to eat and by the end of the night I'd made great friends with the ladies on the table next and Ali our Waiter. We had a great conversation ended up reading each other's cups after a gorgeous Turkish coffee. And at the end of the night we had a few group photos and the girls on holiday took our email address to send them to us. Mediterranean Cafe turned a quick bite to eat after a long day into a wonderful evening that was loads of fun.

P.S. The food's fab

Very confusing place - used to be a great place to eat- the interior an eclectic collection of show posters etc, and loud popular operatic arias in the background. Menu cheap (especially the set menu) and was a great place for a cheap and quick business lunch (the Turkish red wine was ok too). The last two times I have been however the standard has not been as good. Used to be a sure fire winner- now seems more hit and miss- but worth a try when there are so many expensive bad places in Soho.
