Archibald Primary School began their partnership with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2012 as part of the 'Learning Performance Network'. Three members of staff have achieved a Post Graduate Certificate in the Advanced Teaching of Shakespeare and we recognised that the rehearsal room techniques used in school greatly improved writing outcomes for our pupils.
Sadly, this year students from across the town will be unable to attend the annual laying of the first poppy. This event has in recent years become part of the towns commemorative activities and is a chance for young people to have an active role in Remembrance.

Lead by Canon Glyn Holland, students from over 50 schools would normally gather at the Cenotaph on Linthorpe Rd to show their respects, whilst also learning about the importance of Remembrance.Recently Canon Holland approached both Archibald Primary and Macmillan Academy to see how we could facilitate this event to run, in these different times.
At Archibald Primary School, pupils in the Nursery and Reception Classes follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. Pupils in Year One and Year Two follow Key Stage One of the National Curriculum. They follow the Read, Write, Inc (RWI) scheme for phonics. Pupils in Years Three to Six follow Key Stage Two of the National Curriculum.
