Our Archetype Espresso has been a firm favourite for years now from baristas at cafes we supply to coffee drinkers at home. Over the years the way we have used coffee roasting terminology has changed, but what's driving this change and what does it mean? According to some experts, Speciality Grade Coffee is only 6% of the gigantic hill of beans that make up the world's supply of coffee.
As well as the original Coffee Shop & Roastery, where we've been working our magic for the last 183 years, we have since opened four unique and individual Cafs, The Music Room, The Hall, The Mackie Mayor and The Castle, where we showcase the brightest and best single origin coffees and teas from around the world.

I have never visited Atkinsons although it’s on my list to do. But I buy my coffee from Atkinsons because it’s the best I have found in the UK. The have a very quick delivery service and the coffee blend is always very consistent.
Update.
Thanks for the reply. I do love a good coffee shop and did not realise you had more than one venue so will do some research. I was just talking to my partner about your Lancaster shop and showed her the photos on Google so a visit is on the cards as we pass on the way to the Lakes at some point. Hope you have some nice pastries.

Visited Atkinsons cafe at Lancaster Castle and so glad we did, as they had vegan options. The selection was great with a vegan pastrami, cheese and gherkin sandwich, houmous and roast red pepper sandwich, peanut cookie, ginger & pistachio cake, lemon & elderflower cake, fruit flapjack. We ordered two Earl Grey teas with oat milk and two lemon & elderflower cakes which were delicious. We loved everything about Atkinsons and would certainly revisit when next in Lancaster.

It's unusual to leave a review for a wholesale service but we serve your Lancaster Blend tea in our Temple bakery and deli in Harris in the Outer Hebrides. It is wonderful tea blend, rich, malty and full bodied. We get so many positive comments, people come back and ask where it's from and some recognise it at the first sip. There is such an emphasis on coffee in cafes, which is very important, but people forget that tea should be given the same consideration. A pot of loose leaf Lancaster Blend is the perfect house blend tea. Thank you.

Get all of my coffee beans from here now. Staff are always really polite and helpful, whether they don't have my usual choice anymore or they're out of stock they're always happy to help with great suggestions. Selection of different beans is brilliant with a load of single origins + their own blends which are great for espresso. They'll grind it for whatever application too if you're not getting beans.
Shop also stocks a variety of mugs, coffee making equipment, chocolate, tea and alcohol.
Beans are an okay price as well for how fresh they always are, ordering for delivery recently and all the

I can't enthuse enough about this place. Loved the original shop and roast house on China Street since I worked my first job back in the 90s. Just driving past the place when they are roasting is bliss. Please go inside and have a look round. They have preserved the original late 1700s trading shop look, it is breathtaking in its working museum quality. The best coffee sourcing person on the planet owns the business (I think). He travels the world finding truly exceptional beans. I was already a massive coffee fan, but this place took me to a whole new level.
