At The Martial Arts Centre (TMAC), we practice Shotokan Karate, Kickboxing, Royce Gracie Jiu Jitsu and Krav Maga. We also have a top class exercise Instructor. We believe that with hard work and dedication, improvements will be accomplished so when our members attend to train they adopt this approach.
The same rule applies for members with minor learning and physical disabilities. The Chief Instructor of The Martial Arts Centre is Sensei David Wilson who was a Senior member of the United Kingdom Tang Soo Do Association, Korean Karate, and had a successful competition career culminating in a Silver Medal at the World Tang Soo Do Championships in 1991.

I needed something to take the place of football that I played to a good standard and missed takng part in a competitive sport. I was formally company secretary, HR Director and Legal Counsel of Konica Business Machines (UK) Ltd, and thereafter Company Secretary of Woodland International, then a Director of a property company, and part time business consultant.
My first Instructor was Sensei David Wilson, and after nearly ten years, I still very much enjoy training with him. My Profession is an Operating Department Practitioner and I am also a Clinical Skills Tutor and Admissions Tutor for the BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice course, teaching at Anglia Ruskin University.
Both my children train in karate at TMAC, during one of there lessons I heard a new class was starting 'krav maga' it intrigued me so I went along and absolutely loved it. Someone said RGJJ would be good for me too so I went along to that and again loved it. I really felt i had found 'my thing'. There are so many it's hard to choose.

My daughter has been coming to the Martial Arts Centre for nearly 6 years and it is always the highlight of her week. Sensei David Wilson has provided excellent instruction, guidance and support. My daughter is fitter, healthier and better for learning this discipline. I highly recommend TMAC to anyone thinking about learning this sport.

After thirteen years of me and my family training here in kickboxing, the total lack of respect and courtesy that we received following our departure (from the chief instructor) means that we cannot recommend this as a place to train. The people who train here are a great bunch and many of the instructors are great - it's just a shame that we were not able to leave with courtesy dignity and respect.

I have been training here for many years. Sensei Wilson is by far the best instructor I have ever been trained by. The Dojo is amazing, the instructors are professional and friendly and the environment is a welcoming one enabling you to feel comfortable to train at your own pace without feeling like you should be in competition with anyone but yourself.
I wouln't recommend going anywhere else in Braintree for your martial arts training!

Fantastic Dojo, friendly atmosphere with great facilities. Sensei Wilson is extremely knowledgeable in Martial Arts and he and his team of Instructors are always helpful. My family have been regularly attending classes for karate and kickboxing for many years and find the classes varied and interesting. The classes are great for fitness as well as for increasing confidence and the teaching is tailored to suit individual needs. Also, if you want to get involved with other events, there are lots of opportunities throughout the year to attend courses run by external instructors and competitions.

TMAC. Absolute quality place to Train. Really friendly inclusive club. Sensei Wilsons pedigree is un- questionable and his experience shows in his well run professional classes, Karate, Kick boxing and Krav Maga!!!! The centre also has keep fit classes and caters for all, from beginners to the super fit . Ive been training here for a number of years now and thoroughly enjoy it. I would highly recommend The martial Arts Centre Braintree to any one interested in simply getting fit or learning to defend them selves or even looking to compete in top level compatition. EXCELLENT !!!!!!!

I have trained at the Martial Arts Centre, under Sensei David Wilson for a number of years now. I cannot give any higher recommendation than my own children also now train there under Sensei Wilson and his Instuctors. My children thoroughly enjoy the classes. The benefits both to them, and in them are evident. New skills, new confidence and new friends.
I personally have and continue to receive first class tuition from Sensei Wilson. In addition Sensei and the club offer the opportunity to receive tuition, and to train with some of the best martial artists in this country (and a couple from abroad

Brilliant fitness classes!! Options for women only or mixed classes - both of which you are made to feel very welcome. Excellent instructors. I've never had such a good workout at any other class I've been to - if you want to get fit, this is definitely the place to do it! I regularly attend Fit2Fit, Beachbody and Boxercise classes.
My son attends Karate classes here and he loves it. He enjoys learning all the different kicks, blocks, punches etc. and putting everything together for Kata work and sparring.

I have trained in kickboxing at the centre for 5 years and have learnt so much. Sensei Wilson is an excellent instructor and is always keen to help, tutor and make you feel welcome.
There are always high quality seminars from excellent external instructors including Jon Hegan (Jon Hegan Academy), Stuart Lawson (Paragon Gym) and Michael "Venom" Page (Current Bellator MMA fighter).
If you want a club to learn Kickboxing, Karate, Krav Maga or even take part in their extensive range of fitness classes with no attitude and great facilities, then TMAC is the place to go. I intend to keep going until

I have been a member of The Martial Arts Centre for over three and a half years attending karate and kickboxing lessons as well as some of the fitness classes. Two of my children have been members for two years doing kickboxing. We all thoroughly enjoy the lessons and I have seen my children flourish with the tuition they receive. For my own part I have competed nationally at karate, something a few years ago I would never have thought possible but for the encouragement and motivation I receive from this club. As a previous reviewer has stated there are regular guest instructors who are champions

My children all go to the club for karate and love it. Sensei Dave is great with children and fosters a supportive environment in which the children can grow and develop. There are a number students who regularly compete and are award winners. I also attend the adult lessons and don't think that the lessons are repetitive as a previous review stated. One of the great things about the club is the number of outside instructors who come and give courses. All of whom are either current champions or past champions. I have studied two other forms of karate, judo, kung-fu with Japanese and Chinese instructors
