Mount Farm Surgery
Our friendly, efficient and hard-working team of GPs, nurses and healthcare professionals take pride in offering the highest standards of patient-centred healthcare. The practice is based within a modern, clean and well-equipped building, underpinned by the latest IT and communication systems such as text alerts and voice messaging technology, all designed to improve the efficiency of our patient care services.

A General Practitioner (GP) is usually the first point of contact for general healthcare for NHS patients, calling upon an extensive knowledge of medical conditions to assess, diagnose, treat and manage a health issue. Wherever possible we take the opportunity to prevent illness and not just treat it, promoting the best of health and well-being for all of our patients.
Services
Mount Farm Surgery is a modern, efficient and well-equipped GP surgery in the Moreton Hall area of Bury St. Edmunds. First established in Looms Lane in Bury St. Edmunds, we moved to the Moreton Hall Estate approximately thirty years ago, which was built on the original Moreton Hall farmland at the top of Mount Road (hence the name 'Mount Farm').
We regularly have GP trainee registrars working within the practice for a period of time (usually for either 6 or 12 months, depending on their stage of training) as part of the West Suffolk GP Training Scheme. They are qualified doctors who are undergoing further training to enable them to qualify to become a GP.
It is a legal requirement for a doctor to confirm that someone has passed away. There is no need to move the patient. If a doctor has recently seen the patient, a death certificate can normally be issued. However, in the event of unexpected death, the doctor will need to notify the coroner. Please be aware that when undertakers from outside of the practice area are chosen, it can cause a delay in issuing the cause of death certificate.
To make an appointment to see a doctor call 01284 769643 or use our on-line appointment booking service, which is in operation 24-hours a day. When you telephone the practice, a trained member of our practice team will ask you for brief details in order that they can signpost you to the most appropriate clinician, which may be a prescribing nurse, paramedic, physiotherapist, or a doctor.
Triage is a proven and safe way for surgeries to find the most efficient way to help patients and prioritise the most pressing appointment requests. The purpose of triage is to ensure that every patient requesting a same day "urgent" appointment is referred to the appropriate doctor or nurse for the appropriate level of care within an appropriate period of time.

Unfortunately after starting so we'll, this surgery has gone to bottom of the for decent customer service, after registering 4 months ago with this surgery my wife received a letter yesterday saying they were going to drop her & giving her 14 days to find a new surgery. All this after she had a traumatic time with suspected miscarriage. Words fail me as to how badly she has been treated, she was told she was ok to move to them in August 2021 & it took till 20th December for them to decide without explanation this action. Best avoid this surgery as they obviously don't major in customer service

Attended Mount Farm Surgery for my annual review which was conducted in a friendly manner. All tests were explained, meds checked and advice given with respect to improving their efficacy without the need to resort to higher dosages. I mentioned a long term follow up appointment had been delayed because of the Covid pandemic. A few days later, received a follow up call from one of the doctors. Very pleased with the whole process. All staff working well together. Excellent treatment.

I have been a patient here since I moved to Morton Hall approximately 2 years ago. I am fortunate to be generally healthy and have only needed run of the mill type things, which have all been fine. Yesterday however, due to an accident at home, I really needed their expertise. The team pulled out all the stops to see me, treat me and get me on the road to recovery. I was treated with the utmost care, compassion and empathy. I couldn't have been in better hands. Thank you

Outstanding service In the height of covid19 vaccination and dealing with all issues that covid brings I called the surgery today with concerns of my health hoping for a telephone conversation later in the week or perhaps the following week. the receptionist listened to my ailments and unbelievably put me on the list for a call today. Even more… unbelievably after talking with a gp was asked to drive to the surgery where I was seen by a paramedic (Dave)who took an in depth assessment ran some tests leaving me reassured that nothing untoward was going on with more tests to follow. I can only

A lovely friendly practice that I have been registered with since they opened (which must be 30 odd years!). Though the staff have changed over time, the wonderful service they provide to the community has not. Throughout the covid19 pandemic they have continued to provide an outstanding service. Thank you to all the staff.

I have found this practice to be excellent 😊, yes waiting times can be a little lengthy but, comparable to everywhere else from what has been said by friends who live in other parts of the country.
I have found all the different doctors I have seen to be friendly, efficient and professional in manner, receptionists the same and such a lovely clean surgery with pharmacy attached is a big bonus 😁 all within a 5 minute walk from my house !!
I appreciate some others who have posted a review have been met with some issues regarding the surgery/ doctors but, I think they do an outstanding job

Came to pick up my anti depressants as I have recently been diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety. One of the lady nurses told me "I need to learn some manors!" when collecting the tablets. She told me I didn't look like I appreciatted their help. I was shocked and explained that I suffer from depression so looking happy isn't something I'm known for at the moment. I was then told that it doesn't take much to smile or say thank you. I then explained that feeling suicidal doesn't really allow me to do those things at the moment. I have NEVER been made to feel so horrible about myself. I will

Rang in last week for an emergency appointment and asked to see a specific doctor (family doctor) regarding not being able to breathe properly and to collect an Inhalor. I was told to come up and because I've had them before I could collect it. Then i was told I had to see the doctor and to arrange an appointment. I came there whilst struggling to breathe, and then waited 45 minutes watching everyone who came in after me, get seen first for stupid minor injuries like a sore throat. THEN to top it all off, get made to see another doctor because mine had LEFT!!! a doctor who then knew nothing and

Generally a great surgery with wonderful staff who are doing the best they can with what they have.
However after years of being a patient here I have to say that a couple of the doctors are awful, they will ignore whatever you say to them and be generally rude and uncaring but there are some amazing doctors too that will talk you through everything and genuinely seem to care.
