We kindly request that all patients attending the Surgery also continue to wear a facemask or covering (unless clinically exempt) until further notice. We will continue to operate a social distancing model on our premises. We have made this decision in line with Government advice on maintaining the use of masks and face coverings in health settings.
Complying with our policy will ensure the ongoing protection of clinically vulnerable patients and staff, and will also mean that we can maintain open access to our services while reducing the risk of transmission to our staff and the impact this would have on our ability to operate.

Services
If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient. You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months.
You can now register to receive information by text message on your phone regarding appointments and health care. If practices are sending messages about recommended treatment for the management of a specific health issue, then this is defined as providing appropriate care for patients, not marketing purposes.
Our patients have been assigned a named GP, and you can be advised of this at your next interaction with the practice. Please be assured that this will not impact on your experience at the practice, you can still access all of our medical team in exactly the same way as before and having a named accountable GP does not prevent you from seeing another doctor at the practice.
Information about your health and care helps us to improve your individual care, speed up diagnosis, plan your local services and research new treatments. The NHS is committed to keeping patient information safe and always being clear about how it is used. Information about your individual care such as treatment and diagnoses is collected about you whenever you use health and care services.
You can cancel an appointment by telephoning Reception or online (you must be registered for Online Services in order to do this). Please do this as soon as you know you are unable to attend an appointment, we can re-use an appointment even at short notice. Please use the automatic check-in screen in the lobby as you enter the surgery, alternatively report to the Receptionist on the front desk.

Rhe rudest receptionists ever. Over the years they have got worse and worse. Intrusive with questions know full well, 1 they can't help and, 2 they have no appointments. Unhelpful with medication enquiries and results enquiries. Having sat in the surgery and heard one shout about a ringing phone "just let it ring out" just about says it all.!!

I called up to arrange an appointment bang on 8am and managed to get through and the phone was ringing for 28 minutes with no answer and I needed to start work at 8:30am so had to hang up.
I called up a little later on a break and they answered so I asked if there were any appointments left and I was told there wasn't and that I had to try again tomorrow. I explained that I called up at 8am today to get one but they didn't answer and they just told me try again tomorrow.
Ridiculously bad service and rude unreliable receptionists.

The medical and nursing care at the Birches is highly recommended. The shortfall is the ability to service the catchment areas appointments, which falls more in the lap of the government underfunding and squeazing resources. Attempting to get appointments is difficult and very hit and miss, regularly being on redial from 8 to 8.30 am and getting through only when all the appointments have gone. What worries me is the possibility of older individuals suffering due to this.
For the technologically competant among us I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.. E CONSULT.. the process for me was quick, thorough, efficient

We had to move here from Two Rivers Surgery (which is an amazing surgery) due to me getting a job there and the different is stark. Slow, unhelpful receptionists, constant inability to get an on-the-day appointment despite calling on the dot at 8am and queuing for half an hour, and completely out of date processes make every contact with this surgery difficult and painful! The clinicians however are great, which is such a shame for them!
My family with three young children was removed from their system due to us having moved house out of their catchment area- no notice given and with an appointment

I had an appointment booked for today. I was seen on time and the nurse was just amazing. So calm, caring and really interested in me and my health. My check up was an important but very routine one.
Despite a very very rude and impatient man infront of me, constantly ringing the bell to be let in, tapping his foot and looking at his watch, the staff working the reception area were also brilliant.
I think we need to remember and celebrate these valuable, lovely, very hard working doctors, nurses, receptionists and all the other people involved with the running of this surgery, have had to keep

The worst clinic I had no choice but to go to.. Pre- and Post-pandemic, still the worst. I could never get help from here and always had to somehow heal my own self or go to London to get treated, which is costly... Appointments are at random time now over the call, you never know when they will call you, and they just give a call at an inconvenient time and once you miss it, that's it ... nothing. They leave a voicemail to give them a call back, but when I do, nobody picks up. It's a joke. I don't understand why this is a "clinic"..
