Services
The Queens was built around 1841 and named The Queens Head after Queen Victoria. It boasted a large yard and extensive stabling to cater for the expanding suburbs. In 1888 the licensed victualler was Charles Guest, who was also a farmer and timber merchant. The 1901 licensing return showed that it could stable as many as 20 horses.
The Queens has an 'Open Plan' design with distinct areas that merge nicely together. The main bar has solid oak flooring and low beamed ceilings which give a cosy, dog friendly atmosphere. This flows, down a couple of steps, into our beautiful, vaulted roof restaurant. Take a look at our 'Local Food Heroes' blackboard - it shows where we source all our local beer, wine & produce from around the county.
Walk through the bar, down a couple of steps into our impressive, vaulted roof restaurant. This boasts a large arched window with bi-fold doors that open, in the summer, onto our pretty patio area at the rear of the pub, this gives a feeling of eating outdoors. Our menu has a strong emphasis on good, local homemade food.
The accommodation is set in the courtyard behind The Queens and next to our pretty patio area, where in the summer you can sit out, relax and enjoy a few drinks. The apartments consist of three separate units, The Cottage which is split into 'Upper Cottage' and 'Lower Cottage' and 'The Stable' which is next door.
The Stable can sleep up to four people with a double bed and two single beds. The two single beds are on an open plan mezzanine level which is accessed up a loft ladder. These stairs are quite steep but do have hand rails either side. We DO NOT recommend them for young children or for people with mobility difficulties.

Went for Sunday dinner, the roast beef was amazing, as we're the roast potatoes and gravy. The sticky toffee pudding was fantastic and the fact that I was allowed custard, ice cream and cream at no extra charge was outstanding.
The staff as always are lovely and attentive - this is a place I highly recommend to anyone seeking good food in the area local or visitor you will not be disappointed.
I will be back very soon.

Great Sunday roast we booked for Sunday lunch while visiting the Ludlow Food festival. Sunday isn't quite the same with out a roast dinner. We had the Herefordshire beef it was beautiful. Service was very quick but not in a rushed way. Staff friendly and ready to chat. We ate in the restaurant but very nice outdoor garden.
