Services
Parts of Old Downton are so ancient that history merges with legend: its renovation so sympathetic and creative that you may confuse fact with fiction. A mixture of buildings - medieval, half timbered and Georgian surround a herb and flower bedecked courtyard that looks out towards the Hereford hills.
It may be a clich, but in the case of Old Downton Lodge we can rightly claim that each of our bedrooms is unique. Fashioned out of ancient stables and barns, you certainly won't encounter uniformity here: A mixture of exposed beams, high ceilings, alcoves, malt shoots and hidey holes have all been incorporated in varying combinations in one room or another.
Old Downton Lodge is a Restaurant with Rooms. We have won many awards notably 3 AA Rosettes since 2015 and listing in Michelin Guide since 2015. Please book dinner at least 24 hours before your stay as all produce is ordered in fresh each day. The dining room is in its pomp when set out for a party of eighteen, but it is equally atmospheric when laid out with tables of two or four.
Old Downton Lodge in its current guise was designed with "exclusive use" in mind, quite literally! Old Downton's nine luxury bedrooms are designed to meet the highest standards - and its large communal areas (for want of a better description) have been created to provide a wow factor for even the most jaundiced guests.
The chance to celebrate in style with close friends and family, where the sense of occasion is created by the quality of the event rather than the number of guests. Owners Willem and Pippa know how to organise weddings: they made their reputation organising some of the regions grandest receptions and now they use their experience to bring the same high standards and attention to detail to exclusive weddings at the Lodge.

We had the most wonderful, relaxing time at Old Downton Lodge. The staff are sweet and attentive but not overbearing. The accommodation was immaculate and cosy, very comfortable bed and pillows. The food was out of this world - exquisite presentation and flavours. Thank you so much to everyone for making our stay a fabulous experience. We will be back as Arnie said!

We spent just the one night in celebration of our twentieth anniversary. Everything about this place is of the highest possible standard, from the beautiful manicured gardens, to the attention to detail and standard of finish in all the construction and fittings of the rooms/stairs/bar area/restaurant, etc, to the efficiency yet friendliness and courtesy of the staff, the beautiful delicacy of the cuisine which, whilst the servings might be a little small were nonetheless of the highest culinary standard - I could go on. Yes, the prices are above average but in the light of my assessment as above
