Our policy at G&M Precision is to develop strong working relationships with our customers which enables us to almost work in partnership to ensure a smooth run from 1 off prototype parts through to high volume production batch runs. Selecting a particular type of plastic or grade of material may be daunting to say the least given the wide range of engineering plastics that are available.
We at G & M are proficient in the machining of a wide range of materials from stainless steel to aluminium, however it is in the area of Engineering Plastics that our specialist knowledge comes into play. Engineering plastics are a group of plastic materials that exhibit superior mechanical and thermal properties in a wide range of conditions over and above more commonly used commodity plastics.
Ertalyte offers the high wear resistance of Nylon and the low moisture absorption of Acetal in one. PET-P offers seven times more wear resistance than Acetal, it also offers mechanical strength up to 200 f and its FDA approval means it can replace UHMWP, stainless steel and bronze. Many packaging, meat processing and liquid filling companies are changing to use ertalyte.
Torlon is a polyamide-imide resin with exceptional physical and chemical properties that can withstand continuous exposure to temperatures -190 c to -260 c. Torlon provides better compressive strength and higher deflection temperature than most other high performance thermoplastics and its low coefficient of thermal expansion and high creep resistance leads to excellent dimensional stability.
