They are used to restore the alignment of our feet to their neutral position. Mal-alignment causes compensatory movements such as knock knees, flat or inward rolling feet. These movements de-stabilise the feet putting strain on joints, muscles, tendons of the leg, foot, knees and even the back causing pain and damage.
Diabetes may affect your feet in a number of ways. Loss of sensation often starting in the toes is one of the early changes along with reduced blood flow to your feet. This may affect your ability to heal and reduce your natural ability to fight bacteria. Loss of sensation means that you may not be aware of abrasions or cuts in the skin which could lead to deeper sores or ulcers.
