We are an outstanding day nursery situated on a working farm on the outskirts of Barnstaple. We are open for 51 weeks of the year Monday to Friday from 7.45am to 6.00pm. We provide learning and care for children aged from 3 months to 12 years in a stimulating, imaginative and fun environment. Outdoor learning is a very important part of our ethos, promoting holistic development of all children.

Facilities at Springfield Nursery include a spacious outdoor playground with an undercover area, gazebo, pets corner and a vegetable garden. Springfield Nursery is situated in beautiful surroundings in North Devon and has some wonderful facilities. We use Ofsted inspections as part of our policy of continuing improvement. Leadership and management of the provision are exemplary. The provider implements rigorous self-evaluation procedures, which successfully identify strengths and areas for further development. This results in continuous enhancements to practice and excellent care for children.
There is usually a waiting list for places at Springfield Nursery so we advise applying as early as possible to secure a place for your child. We have three charge bands which are based on the age of your child and the staff ratio for their age group. Under 2 year's 1:3, 2 to 3 years 1:4 and over 3 years 1:8.

A nursery full of joy, care and adventure!
My little boy absolutely loves his days at Springfield. Each day is different and wonderfully planned out. He recently returned to Springfield following the lockdown,… and is so happy to be back... he runs through the gate where he is greeted with smiles by the wonderful staff. There have been measures put in place to keep both staff and children safe during this uncertain time, but they have managed to keep the welcoming, nurturing environment that the children know and love. Both our children have been to Springfield from a young age and progressed through the different areas and have loved it. More recently since restrictions were eased our 3yo has returned and although there are measures in place to protect children and carers, it hasn’t changed their experience. Infact returning to nursery is just what our 3yo needed she can’t wait for her Springfield days she is so happy to be back. Thank you
