Established in 1992, St Michael's Nursery welcomes babies as young as three months old, and children up to four years old into a caring, cheerful environment run by experienced and enthusiastic staff. We know that it is the atmosphere generated by our happy and committed team that creates the emotional climate where your child will flourish.
Our aim is to provide a stimulating and uplifting environment to promote your child's all-round learning and development. Our nursery is in an urban position in Barnstaple and yet enjoys a very rural setting. Located on the main road into town, the site has convenient onsite parking for parents. The children enjoy the great outdoors on our large lawn as well as mature gardens and woodland area.

Services
We are a regular team of qualified and experienced Nursery Nurses, many of whom have families of their own, a good number of our original team joined the nursery over ten years ago. St. Michael's Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We pride ourselves in providing good quality home cooked meals, locally sourced where possible and the ability to trace the source of all produce. Baby weaning stages and dietary requirements are catered for. Our mealtimes provide opportunity for a happy, social occasion where children practise their independence and skills for life.
Our nursery has a forest area for fun with nature, offering children, opportunities to achieve and develop confidence through hands-on learning. The combination of freedom and responsibility is particularly beneficial to children developing self esteem and confidence. Children safely experience activities such as climbing on logs and trees, finding mini beasts, using tools and enjoying camp-fires.
You and your child are part of our nursery family. Settling in is tailor made for every child. Our Nursery staff work closely in partnership with parents to settle children in to our happy environment. During the first few visits, parents are welcome to stay with your child so they feel settled and so that you, in turn, feel comfortable about leaving them in our care.
We pride ourselves in creating a homely environment for your baby, a home from home where the babies feel relaxed and safe. We aim to make this experience as easy as possible and encourage parents to take as much time as they can to ensure they feel comfortable with us before returning to work.

We also understand the importance of fresh air, we will often be found out and about, a walk in the local area, into the town or a crawl in the garden in the sunshine.

Quite simply an outstanding nursery with exceptional staff. Our children have attended St Michaels' nursery over the last 8 years and the quality has been consistently excellent. I couldn't imagine entrusting anyone else with my children as their experiences are so enriching varied and full of fun and support. I couldn't recommend this nursery highly enough.
