Cracking shop, visit every time we are in Whitby. Staff always friendly and helpful. Came over to Whitby last Tuesday (3/11) and did some Christmas shopping there while we could, hope we can go back before Christmas and for fish and chips also at Hadleys!
Previous review laughable at a time when touching and trying clothes on can't happen due to Covid, wouldn't dream of going through boxes, o well.

I had seen some Barbour boots and a lovely hat in the window of this shop, I entered the shop and picked up the hat at the edge of the window display, next to the door to try it on, at which point one of the sales assistants (brown hair, glasses and attitude!) came over and told me, very aggressively, ‘don’t touch the items in the window, there are others in the shop’. She then left me, without offering any assistance to find the other hats, to go back to the gossiping with her colleagues.
I could not find any other hats like this in the shop so instead saw the boots I wanted to try on.

Brought a Jacket on my visit to the beautiful Whitby, unfortunately I thought was buying a black jacket, found out later that day it was blue when I got back to the accommodation, so I returned it explaining I had brought it by error. I took the jacket back the next day and was refused a refund, and only offered a credit note, or exchange (didn't live local, and I didn't see anything else in the store) so neither was an option for me.
My opinion is that the owner didn't give great customer service, when he could of being the owner of the store (at least he said he was) he stuck to his poor signage

My husband and I returned a £25 hat to Spiders yesterday after the bobble had become detached. This had happened within the first few wears, however, despite living in Whitby, we had no opportunity to return it until 4 weeks after we bought it, and tbh, did not consider this much of a priority. When we expeclained what had happened and asked for a refund (there being no like for like replacement hat available), we were told, variously:
We might have done it ourselves
We could mend it ourselves
After a month, what did we expect?
We could exchange the hat or receive a credit note, but were not
