Video calls via Skype, Facetime or Zoom can also be accommodated. If, however, you feel there is a necessity to arrange a face to face meeting, either at our premises or at your home, then we would be willing to discuss this possibility with you. This is the recommended limit on the number of attendees.
If you feel there is an exceptional reason why you would wish to have more attendees then they have undertaken a risk assessment using 1m social distancing; providing all attendees are wearing a mask this figure could be increased. In addition, Face coverings are still a requirement of Hastings Crematorium, except by those who are medically exempt.

Services
Why choose Towners? We are the oldest established locally owned undertakers in the Hastings and Rother area - the last of the independents from the 19th Century. This year is our 146th anniversary. We are a small, family owned business so we don't have to answer to shareholders in the way the big, national companies have to.
The Company was established in 1875 by Frederick Edward Towner, a local cabinet maker and undertaker in the fledgling community of St Leonards-on-Sea, Britain's first New Town. E.''s grandfather, Thomas, was a builder from Seaford who, along with many builders and artisans from all over Sussex, was commissioned by the architect, James Burton, for the New Town scheme.
We are a family owned business of funeral directors and monumental masons who have operated in the Hastings and Rother area of East Sussex since 1875. Our offices and chapels of rest are located in St Leonards-on-Sea, Bexhill and Battle. Our own specialist stonemasonry workshop is close to the main office in St Leonards.
Hastings born and bred, Edward started work at Towners when he left college in the mid 1970s. He became Managing Director in 1987 and worked in this capacity up until 2021. Being the fifth generation of the Towner family to run the firm, he has always been acutely aware of the legacy his forebears have left.
Now semi-retired, Colin has been a familiar face at Towners for over 40 years. He oversees our Golden Charter pre-paid funeral plans and is happy to sit and discuss people's thoughts about their own funeral arrangements and advise them on their best course of action. Colin is based at our Battle office but will be able to meet you at any of our offices or at your own home if preferred.

Towners were recommended to me following the death of my mother, and I cannot speak highly enough of the service that Duncan and his team were able to offer. They were respectful, dignified and impeccably professional throughout the whole process, walking me through things and getting everything arranged so that my mother's funeral was a fitting service in her memory. I really cannot thank Towners enough for all they have done.

We are not merely satisfied with the services Towner’s provided: we are both impressed and touched by the tact, efficiency and total comprehensiveness of all that you did. From the gentle removal of the body after death, through the peace and solace of your Chapel of Rest, to the funeral itself and the fact that you didn’t rush away but stayed to ensure that everything needful had been completed, you and your colleagues were a great support to us.

Angela looked after my father's funeral when he passed away suddenly before Christmas. At every stage of the arrangements she was professional but empathic and it was a real comfort to experience the level of care and respect that was taken. Despite being hundreds of miles away and during the restrictions of the pandemic, Angela accommodated all our requests. I cannot recommend Towners highly enough.

What a fantastic team of people, absolutely wonderful. They go out of their way to make sure they meet all your needs, they are extremely kind, helpful & above all else, extremely courteous. Particular thks to Mrs Angela croft, for explaining everything I needed to know, keeping me updated at all times, to actual procedures of the funeral service. I can't thank her enough, it's been an absolute pleasure meeting her & would highly recommend her. I would also like to say a very big thankyou to jill one of the receptionist, for putting up with all the phonecalls I made. Not forgetting everyone else

Nothing short of an amazing experience at a difficult time. The staff are brilliant and you’re treated with respect as are our loved ones. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Arthur C Towner. We recently lost… our beautiful Mum and the funeral was planned. However 4 days before it was due to take place our special Dad passed too. One phone call and a new double funeral was arranged. Nothing was too much trouble, everyone we came into contact were nothing short of amazing. The funeral was beautiful thanks to the team and Matt who reassured us every step of the way. Thank you

To everyone at Towners – I’d like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for all you have done for my family during this difficult time. All the way through there’s been nothing but absolute support and help and it made a hard situation that much easier to cope with. The funeral was exactly as Dad wished, and with such care, dignity and respect we feel that we really were adhering to his wishes. I don’t really know what to say except thank you so very much, once again.

Have used Towners twice in the past year and had a superb service from Anita Curtis, Funeral Director and her team and Penny on reception at the Bexhill branch. My son's were taken care of and all of the arrangements were made to make the two funerals seamless events. There was no pressure to make choices immediately and only compassion and patience which is exactly what you want when you are most vulnerable and in complete devastation.
Thank you to all of the team and I appreciate everything you have done for us. I would recommend to anyone wanting a truely lovely and professional team to take

We contacted Towners for their support after my Dad passed away in June. Stephen was very respectful and calm when he came to take Dad into the care of Towners, which was outside of normal business hours. We later met with Nick who organised Dad's funeral service, and again, he was incredibly professional and personable throughout the process. He explained everything clearly and was very patient if we were unsure about anything. We were supported to organise an incredibly personal funeral, which meant a great deal to us. Timescales meant we did not have a great deal of time to arrange the service

We just wanted to say a big thank you to the Towner’s team for the way they handled Colin Stace’s funeral. They helped us through a very difficult time with great care and professionalism. From our first visit to them we couldn’t fault the way they treated us as human beings and not just customers. Examples were the kind help through the process on… day one, our driver on the day and the instruction we were given for our pall bearing duties. The order of service they produced is something many of the family will always keep.

Having lost two sons in the past year I had Anita assist with the funeral arrangements and looking after my boy's until the funeral date arrived. I was able to visit them in the chapel as many times as i needed and received nothing but compassion and professionalism from the team. the day ran smoothly and everything was taken care of. I highly recommend Arthur Towners for funeral services and thank them again for everything you have done for us.

We very recently lost our precious Mother, thanks to Ewan who carefully guided us through all the arrangements for her funeral. Advising us, but listening to our requests. They went out of their way to accommodate our individual requirements for our Mum. It is such a very difficult time, but Ewan and his team at Bexhill couldn’t have been more helpful and considerate. Many thanks to them. From Pam’s family.

I can't recommend this firm enough, the care they showed us and assistance they gave when my father passed away recently was second to none, absolutely nothing was too much trouble for them, the personal attention to detail was outstanding, (something I feel is often lost in larger non-family run firms). I couldn't have asked for a more perfect and… fitting send off for my father, on top of that they are extremely well priced. I would definitely recommend this firm. Thank you for making such a difficult time run so smoothly and beautifully, my only gripe is that they don't have a branch
