I trained at the University College of Osteopathy (formally the British School of Osteopathy) and graduated in 1980 after a four-year full-time training. I am registered with the General Osteopathic Council and maintain the Osteopathic Standards of Practice. I see clients that are referred from GP's and who also self refer.
I am insured with The Institute of Osteopathy. Clients come seeking pain relief from a variety of causes from sciatica, spinal and joint issues to arthritis and headaches. Using both my knowledge of modern pain science and osteopathic principles I aim to educate, diagnose and rehabilitate clients back to a healthy and pain-free life.

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. Osteopathy was the first complementary healthcare to be given statutory recognition by the UK government.
Osteopathy works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments, nervous system and connective tissues functioning smoothly together; to maintain good nerve function and blood and lymphatic circulation. To an osteopath, for your body to work well, its structure must also work well.

There is no need to be referred by your GP first; some GPs will recommend osteopathic treatment. I have good links with local GP practices and also work from Patford House Surgery in Calne. If necessary I will contact your GP (with your permission). I cannot prescribe drugs, but can give off work certificates.

I had a great experience with Carol when I attended an appointment believing that I may have injured my neck. She was able to quickly determine that the problem did not lie in any of my musculoskeletal structures, and helped me draw up a plan of further action that finally led to a diagnosis for which I am now receiving treatment. We also had an interesting chat during my examination, which I thoroughly enjoyed and found very informative. Would highly recommend.

After 20 mins of pre-treatment questioning, she finally started the massage: it was far too gentle even having directly asked for it to be stronger. Despite knowing how I wanted/needed the massage, as I've been seeing osteopath for many years and know what works for me, she ignored my request and continued the massage the way she wanted. With this approach she found no real issues and by the time I left I was £65 poorer and felt just like I did when I went in. Later on that same day, my husband had to massage the areas of complaint and found several knots amongs other tense areas and his massage

3 years on and I still see Carol, she knows exactly what to do to correct the pain I have in the thoracic part of my back and my traps. Carol does more than just treat the symptom, after seeing her for a long time now she has helped me gain a better understanding of the connection between the mind and the body. Looking for signs of stress and then their impact on these issues. I cant recommend her enough, I feel completely safe and 100% trust in Carol to fix any issue that I have!

Carol is calm and professional and makes you feel immediately at ease. Carol takes a holistic approach, making time to find out about your lifestyle and what external stresses might be impacting on your body. Carol uses very gentle manipulation and massage during the appointments and recommends useful exercises which have made a big improvement to my back. The appointments never feel rushed and I always come away feeling better. I would recommend Carol to anyone who is suffering from neck, shoulder or back pain.

I would highly recommend Carol, she was very professional, approachable and understanding. A pain in my hip was causing me sleepless nights and discomfort and generally getting me down. Carol completely resolved this issue for me through assessment, gentle hands on treatment and advice on appropriate exercises to strengthen my hip. Thank you Carol!

Carol was at the Chippenham Half Marathon event in September 2019 (very kindly donating her time for charity). I had a pre-race sports massage from her for a problem hamstring. She was absolutely amazing and her treatment made a huge difference to my run. My legs felt loose and relaxed right from the start of race, and I flew round in a seasons best by 10 minutes, and won my age category ! I would thoroughly recommend any runners out there to give it a go if you haven`t tried pre race treatment before, I can guarantee you won`t regret it! Thankyou Carol!

Carol is absolutely brilliant. She has been treating my neck and back for some time now (a recurring injury) , making the pain disappear and really getting to the bottom of what's causing it. She has a fantastic approach and really is interested in your all round well being. Can't recommend highly enough!

I have recurring long term problems with my back, shoulder and hips. Carol has managed, over the years, to keep me mobile despite my rather unhealthy lifestyle and stressful job!
She is very professional but also manages to make you feel very relaxed and comfortable.
The gentle manipulation technique involved with osteopathy suits me much better than physio.
I highly recommend Carol!
