Situated in the heart of the Northern Quarter since 2004, Fan Boy Three is one part Friendly Local Game Store, one part boardgame cafe and one part award winning Organised Play centre. But now you don't have to actually be in Manchester to visit. You can browse online like you would in store, check out the new releases, buy event tickets, join groups, chat to mates and make new ones.
Whether you are a boardgamer, a cardgamer, a roleplayer, a miniatures player, or you just love games and you don't care about categories, we've got games for you. And when you buy three or more non-sale boardgames or boardgame expansions from our webstore, we'll give you 10% off those boardgames at checkout!

Great selection of gaming things, and the pricing is very fair.Nice atmosphere in the shop too,no pushy sales people pestering to assist or make u feel uncomfortable as you make your way around the shop which is a massive relief. The location is great too,so glad to have this store in Manchester as the last time we saw any like this was Glasgow where they have a good few games shops.

Great selection, rude staff. Been in 3 times asking nicely for recommendations and was met with either a sharp rude reply or told to just have a look. Immediately left and went down the road who were happy to recommend games and even tried to direct me back to fanboy 3. Will certainly give it a try again due to the amount of stuff they have to offer but every time I've been I feel like staff dont want any customers.

A real gem of the Northern Quarter, great to have a browse of the latest games and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. There are also gaming meets on weekends. I needed advice on some coop games to add to my collection and walked out with Forbidden Island and Macro Micro, both excellent choices for me.

I’m usually reluctant to come into this store, because I’ve been served multiple times by a middle aged blonde lady who is super rude. But today, I was served by such a lovely staff member who made my experience really nice. I don’t know her name, but she has two colours in her hair dyed and she wore a pikachu visor, please let her know she’s doing a great job 😊

It's 'FAN'boy! How can I not employ the 'Fan' number of stars?
Okay. So having geeked out on Game of Thrones and realising there's going to be A CARD GAME, and then watching my fiancé smash weird monsters in Dark Souls and getting really into it, having had enthusiastic and lovely roleplaying friends at uni and Role Models making roleplaying epically cool (who wouldn't want to go into fake-battle dressed as Kiss?) I thought I'd highlight the fact that a place of organised gaming exists in our quirky little Northern Quarter.
Adding weight to the fact that

Apparently this is -the- place to go to get your collectible card game tournament action on as indicated by the tables full of people playing Magic: The Gathering one night and the (reportedly) preview version of Yu-Gi-Oh the following day. Just to be clear, I only know because I asked...
Beyond that, Fanboy 3 has a pretty respectable assortment of various indie and adult games (no, not -those- kinds of games, perv). Whilst I didn't spot the specific boardgame I'd been looking for, a lot of classics were present, such as Risk and Settlers of Catan. Plus, if you're into roleplaying

I was first introduced to Fanboy3 by my friend Gray. He managed to get me back into Magic The Gathering after 4 years of not playing it.
We first survey the stores around Manchester for possible place to buy the cards and eventually landed in Fanboy3.
Most Game Shops just sell TCG, Figurines, Magazine, Comic books and the such but this one had table in the main area of the shop where the merchandise are displayed, as well as a separate room filled with tables for people to play with.
If you have a small play group, you can always come here to play with other people that likes to play the same

Ive been in a couple of times now and I am impressed. This place is for real fans of rpg's, board games, wargames etc.
Too often has all the things that make life worth living been watered down to cater for the mass market, Doctor Who, D&D and pretty much anything that gets a film.
I am a stereotypical nerd, I live with me mam, not very successful with the ladies and am socially awkward to ridiculous levels. Put briefly, thank god for places where I can hang out with people interested in the important things like Yugioh and 40k.
This place does all that, it sells all the mint stuff

8. I was on a website the other day that gives you free stuff. One of the links was for a free deck of cards from Fanboy 3. Well...why not. I know a friend of mine, that is into magic and all this crazy stuff, with woods, swords, World of Warcraft and all the rest. Anyway, I went in there with my voucher to take my freebies. I must tell you, I don't know anything whatsoever about this type of games. So the guy looked at me, asked me few question and I was just mumbling some answers, that made the guy even more confused than before. In the end I got my cards, and when I was about to leave

A good place to find roleplaying games, board games and collectible card games.
The staff are friendly and helpful and they run daily events and organised games for all comers. They allow people to use their shop to play games.
Unfortunately the clientele can be quite pungent and sometimes the smell can be offputting.
Not as cheap as some internet sites but that is to be expected and they have a very good selection and always willing to order in an item for you.
