Originally constructed as a holiday villa for a wealthy merchant in 1894, our beautiful Victorian building first opened its doors to paying guests in the 1930s as Riva Lodge, whose promotional literature enticed potential residents with the promise of 'Comfort, cosiness and splendid food'.
The intervening eighty years have seen many changes to staff, clientele and interior design but one quality has remained steadfast across the decades - customer service.

Very clean, near beach and harbour.
We had a compact room, bathroom was too small really. Only 13 car spaces for a 21 room hotel. Breakfast was OK, cereal, fruit, cooked breakfast with toast, tea & coffee in with price. Pool was cold, did not use hot tub. No evening restaurant and did not except takeaway being eaten in outside area!
Book local Restuarants in advance as really busy, for 2 evenings we ate on benches from take aways!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Riviera Lodge Hotel. I think by North American standards this would qualify more as a bed & breakfast or at least in my eyes anyway but either way, it's a really lovely spot.
We were in room number 1 that overlooked the parking lot. The room itself is small yet equipped with a double bed, night tables, wardrobe, desk and chair. There's not a lot of room to move around... especially in the bathroom.
I should note, there's no lift so if you've got a bit of luggage, consider staying on the first floor (which is only two flights of stairs
