Ardington House is a Georgian masterpiece in South Oxfordshire which we invite you to make your own for the most special of occasions. Ardington House was commissioned by Edward Clarke, who wanted a house in the Baroque style with perfect symmetry and an emphasis on natural light throughout. The house was designed by the architect and mason Thomas Strong Jnr and built between 1719 and 1721.
The Strong family owned stone quarries at Taynton in Gloucestershire and became a renowned dynasty of master masons who, over successive generations, also worked with Sir Christopher Wren on St. Paul's Cathedral and Greenwich Hospital, with Sir John Vanbrugh on Blenheim Palace, and with Nicholas Hawksmoor on many of London's most famous churches.

Ardington House is above all a fantastic family home and is available for self-catering weekend and weekly rentals for up to 25 people. Situated in the deep countryside of the North Wessex Downs in an officially designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, yet only 75 minutes from London, the House is an ideal location for weekends away or longer breaks.
Ardington House has been the setting for many filming projects and photoshoots over the years, some recent examples being sporting and action film Let's be Frank, Channel 4's popular series Lookalikes, Royal London Insurance advert and Horse & Hound photoshoot. We can offer you a bespoke proposal based on your exact requirements and a completely private setting in which to complete the shoot.
Ardington House is an exclusive use venue, allowing you to take over the whole of this beautiful private setting and make it feel like home to you and your wedding guests. The House and formal gardens are an ideal setting for welcome drinks, canaps, garden games and photographs, while our riverside garden marquee, set in parkland and with uninterrupted views up to the downs, makes the perfect setting for your wedding breakfast and party.
Although situated just 75 minutes from London and 15 minutes from Didcot Parkway train station, once you arrive in Ardington you will feel a million miles from the hustle and bustle of daily work life.

What a beautiful and professional venue. We used Ardington House as our filming location for an upcoming television show. It was extremely refreshing to have an A* Team of staff who were personable and nothing was too much trouble. Strongly recommend using Ardington House as your venue, whether that be for telly, a wedding or private function. Everything was flawless. Thank you Charlie, Sharon, Jason, Debbie, Naomi and everyone else we met across the two days! x

My daughter’s wedding held at Ardington House on the 23rd Sept, was without doubt a magical experience and was better than my wildest dreams could have hoped for. The house, it’s rooms it’s grounds are glorious, every eventuality catered for, steeped in history but comfortable and homely. The smallest of detail thought of, comfy beds, thick towels, beautiful toiletries even posh loo roll in every bathroom and wc. We had three unforgettable days and I would highly recommend Ardington and all it’s people.

I was lucky enough to get married at Ardington House in August 2021 and it is the most wonderful wedding venue - not only is it stunning (the house and grounds are beyond beautiful and so well maintained), but the service and the team are so thoughtful and helpful. Wedding planning is always stressful, but throw in three COVID-related postponements, and I was a bag of nerves. But Charlie and the Ardington team kept me calm and went over and above to make sure everything was perfect - and it really, really was.

Ardington House was the perfect location for our wedding: the island was a picturesque spot for an intimate ceremony and the Georgian-style house was a magical setting for our reception and photographs – it was like a fairy-tale! The staff worked tirelessly throughout the entire planning process and on the day (including two date rearrangements due to Covid-19). Their enthusiasm and support made us feel that they cared as much about our wedding day as we did. We would 100% recommend Ardington House for a beautiful and memorable wedding of any size.

We are still on cloud nine from our wedding but we couldn’t wait any longer before thanking you profoundly from the bottom of our hearts for making our wedding more than we thought it would be. From the moment we laid eyes on the venue we knew this is where we wanted to have our wedding. It was even more picturesque in person.
With covid postponing our wedding date, you were kind enough to accommodate us for the following year and kept in constant communication with us throughout the year. Charlie was hands-on with everything, including being there for us all on the day.

We cannot thank the team at Ardington House enough for the most wonderful wedding day! Charlie and the team provided excellent support during the last year and a half of constant postponements due to Covid, we could not have got through such a difficult time without them! We are so grateful to have celebrated in the beautiful house, gardens and marquee, which has left us with long lasting memories and gorgeous photos! The most unique and special wedding venue- highly recommended!

This was THE most stunning wedding location and i would recommend to anyone searching for their venue, to come to the stunning Ardington House.
