An historic 17th century bar restaurant with an established reputation for a friendly atmosphere and great wholesome and value-for-money food! The Lamb Inn is truly a family pub in more ways than one and you are guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome. Over the past fifty years there have only been two landlords.
For the past 21 years Andy Chalmers and his family proudly managed the pub which he has now handed down to his sons Lee and Gary, who are closely helped by other family members. Those visiting The Lamb for the first time will be surprised when they walk through the door. The exterior of the building with its ancient thatched exterior, its beams and warped walls, hides an enormous pub and gardens.

Services
For those interested in the history of architecture in the Oxford area, the Lamb Inn is of outstanding interest. After the Parish Church, it is the oldest building in Wantage and has been a pub since 1650. It has never been sold on the open market, and in the last fifty years it has only had two landlords!
Group bookings are welcome, whether it's for a formal event or a special occasion. We have regular groups that visit the pub for both social and formal meetings, as well as a company annual Xmas lunches. We hold a regular jazz evening on the last Wednesday of the month which is always extremely popular.

Highly recommended.
I love this place. Relaxed atmosphere for drinking ale. Serves crisps, nuts and pork scratchings to go with your pint of choice.
They also have a few bottles of wine and selected spirits with high quality mixers.
We took the dog and my knitting, fitted right in.
Good selection of cask and keg ales, and cans too.
I love the way the original fittings from it being a butcher's shop have all just been left and are part of the style of design..
Also. The toilet walls have been decoupaged with vintage comic books.. amazing to read whilst on the loo or washing your hands!

Two out of five of our meals were vile. We ordered fish and chips; fish was virtually cremated and the chips were raw. Eight hours later and I still have gut ache. No one checked during the meal that everything was okay. Made the waitress aware at the end of our meal that it was inedible. No attempt to rectify the situation. But on the positive side, the landlord and lady seemed to be enjoying themselves socialising with their friends at the bar. I've had better food at a Hungry Horse. Prices aren't particularly cheap, expected a lot better. Won't be going back ever again.

First of all, no knock on the service staff, they were doing a great job and with all the stuff that's been going on over the last year they're basically beyond reproach as far as I'm concerned. The inside and outside were nice too.
The food though...
There's absolutely nothing wrong with serving frozen fish and oven chips in a pub (who doesn't love cheap and cheerful), but when most people know exactly what these look like, the gall to put them on a plate in front of you and charge £10.95 for them is sickening. Someone needs to either substantially decrease the price of the food or turn the
