Writtle Podiatry Clinic is a friendly clinic which is easy to access with available local parking. Appointments can be made by phone - there is an answerphone available if the podiatrist is busy and we will ring you back as soon as possible. Heather Norburn has been practicing from this site for over 10 years and is a wellknown local figure.

She has held both local and national roles in developing Podiatry and particulary Children's Podiatry and is recognised for her positive and enthusiastical approach to treatments and patients. Heather spends her time when not working following her keen interests in art and history, and walking her dog, Mollie around the village.
Services
All of these conditions would be included in a normal treatment. Sometimes Heather may advise having more complex treatment for specific conditions which might include Ingrowing Toenail or thickened nail removal or specialised insoles to alter the way you walk (Orthotics). Sometimes Heather may recomend purchasing one or a pair of insoles to provide useful padding to relieve pain - these are available at the clinic.
One side or both sides of a nail can dig into the surrounding skin. This is painful and the area is swollen and red. Infection can occur with pus present. I can deal with the ingrowing nail by trimming the nail, if necessary using local anaesthetic to numb the toe. If the problem is severe or frequent, I can remove the ingrowing portion of the nail permanently, using phenol (a caustic liquid) to kill off the nail cells on the nail bed.
Orthotics are prescribed for patients by taking a biomechanical examination that will be used to identify issues that are affecting walking. These can be problems in the foot, the shape of the leg, soft tissue (muscle and tendons) or the shape of bones. One leg may be longer than the other (leg length discrepancy).
