The Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA) is a short assessment, taken in the first six weeks in which a child starts Reception. In the final term of the year, the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFS Profile) must be completed for each child. Each child's level of development must be assessed against the early learning goals.
The role of the Governing Board is to govern the school. This means focusing on the core functions of providing strategic leadership, holding the headteacher to account and making sure the school's money is well spent. This is a demanding task for which all governors need to have, or develop, relevant and appropriate skills.
With every great school there is always a great school council and Gurnard Primary School is no different. Our school council has been renamed as Young Governors to reflect the importance of their role in improving our school. Young Governors are elected each year by their class. Once elected as a Young Governor, the child is then the voice for their peers, passing on information from Young Governor meetings that require a classroom debate.
