Services
Le Talbooth Restaurant was discovered by the late Gerald Milsom in 1952, when it was just a simple tearoom with a superb location by the River Stour. Several years later, in 1969, Gerald bought Maison Talbooth and established it as a luxury hotel. In 1978, Gerald, returning from a visit to America, decided that he rather liked the idea of having a seafood restaurant.

Milsoms is celebrating! Believe it or not, we first opened out doors in 2001 so we thought what better way to celebrate. Harwich is a great place to stay anytime of the year but the town really comes into its own in the Summer.

Book the Gourmet Getaway package today and you'll be able to relax with a glass of Champagne on arrival at the Suffolk hotel before being whisked to Le Talbooth in our Range Rover, where you'll enjoy a three-course a la carte dinner before returning to the hotel.Treat yourselves to Bed & Breakfast in Suffolk.

We had a lively overnight stay at the Milsom hotel. The rooms are delightfully decorated. Warm and comfortable. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant had a good choice of food and wines. We will definitely make a return visit.

Had a meal in Milton's 5 people. They fail to tell you on arrival to write your choices of food and deliver it to the bar. Sat for 35 minutes before realising. Not my idea of service. 3/10.

The restaurant was full when we got there but they managed to seat us in the marquee perfectly nice but those diners not under heaters kept their coats on.
Food was lovely. A starter of salt and pepper squid with broccoli was both delicious and generous. Main courses were not as generous but were well cooked and very tasty. Puddings were the least successful part of the evening, not least because on a slightly chilly winters evening, with rain coming in through the marquee ventilation gaps, there wasn't a custard option in sight! Puddings without custard? Should rename it a dessert menu. All in

Good but could be great. Lovely bedroom (room 7) but for some reason ( heating off, window open, cool outside) uncomfortably hot. Cleanliness OK but there were quite a few long black hairs on the floor which I assume came for a previous guest. Lovely shower room, but the overhead shower needs a good clean as the shower streams go in every direction apart from straight down. Restaurant meal good, although the port they served had a lot of sediment (to be fair they took this off the bill). So to summarise, a good hotel, but with a bit of care and attention this would be great with a 5 star review

This is a very nice old fashioned hotel with lots of charm. The food was excellent with a great freshly cooked breakfast. The staff are very proficient and friendly. The only down side to our stay was the noise from the room above us which kept us awake for hours but this wasn't the hotels fault.

Decided to have dinner here as I was visiting some friends up north. This place ooked good and food menu was decent. Service was a bit lacking but the food was pretty amazing especially the squid. You must try it!
I had the steak and I must say it was really good. Mains did take a while to arrive and it didn’t seem really busy at the time.
I’d definitely go there again if I get the opportunity and get two portions of the quid as my main! Yes it’s that good.

Great food and wine. Slightly pricey, but good atmosphere. We met at 5.30 to secure a table as no booking policy. Interesting menu, good wines and friendly place. Service slightly odd as you have to take your written order to the bar, so not as relaxing as it could be, but made for a good eve. We were not rushed and the food was great....

Some years ago this used to be good. For me now it has slid far too far away from that standard. It has a nice ambiance, lovely position and gardens, but one goes to a restaurant for the food and I don't think it is good enough for the price point it pitches at. Honestly I would go elsewhere.

What a wonderful little spot for an afternoon bite!

We stayed up the street, and the staff eagerly would chauffeur us back and forth for meals!
We really enjoyed finally having a meal in a little more upscale place than a pub!

The food was wonderful, the staff were excellent, and we were all-in-all very happy with the accommodations! Everything was so relaxed and enjoyable in the countryside, watching pheasant in the field... I highly recommend it!

I went here with my family to celebrate us. I'm a visiting American, and I was promised properly seasoned food, if we came here. Also, I was ready for something a little more upscale because I was feeling bougie. I love a good British pub and chip shop, and the Indian in this country is amazing...but I do appreciate nice things.

They definitely picked the right place. First off, the setting was gorgeous. It's in a beautifully manicured grounds, in a countryside hotel. There is an enormous redwood in the back garden, and there is outdoor seating. I saw part of the outdoor seating had

Such a lovely venue in a tranquil area. I had the Tandoori Wester Ross Salmon fillet, mooli laccha and roasted cashews with a yoghurt dressing.

The salmon was cooked to perfection and the fillet was of excellent quality. My wife had the Iceland Cod with big chips which she also loved.

One tip..... arrive early for lunch as it is also a spa, and the get busy on a Friday afternoon.
