After 18 years at the Renaissance, we are hanging up our aprons to retire. We would like to thank all our wonderful customers from over the years for their fun, foodie chat and friendship. All our suppliers are local to our business and we rely on them to provide us with the best produce they can obtain. Our main guidance for our menus are the seasons and we constantly use the ingredients that good food is known for. Our 6-course surprise menu brings together all the best seasonal produce, balance and consistencies for you to enjoy in an exciting and different manner, and has been a real hit among diners so far!
Renaissance is situated in Princess Street, a few yards up from The Square in the Town Centre of Shrewsbury. Parking is available in Ravens meadow multi-storey car park and the various other pay and display car parks in town, or you could use the Park & Ride service. I went here with my partner and his work colleagues for a meal. What an experience. You don't choose what you eat, your agree bought out 6 (delicious and beautifully presented) mysterious plates of food, at which point you are told what the dish is. Every single plate of food was cooked and served to perfection. I'm not always the most adventurous eater, but every dish was devoured in its entirety!
We also opted for the wine tasting as well, so a glad of wine is bought out with each dish to suit that dish, and again as someone who is no wine specialist, it was extremely enjoyable!

Fantastic restaurant in the heart of Shrewsbury.
At first, this looks very old school decor (carpets, curtains etc), check out the menu and you'll see a passionate, imaginative chef that offers a very reasonably priced menu.
The furnishings actually absorb the sound so you're not shouting at each other across the table as you have to in many wooden echoey establishments.
The surprise tasting menu is amazing and great value. They cater for all dietary requirements, and still manage to keep it a secret until it's served.
