Our garden covers nearly 2 acres and is Nicky's pride and joy. She spends a great deal of her free time tending it and usually has a project on the go somewhere within it. Nicky is always thrilled to meet and chat with guests who share her passion for gardening, or indeed just to let people enjoy what she has created.

Stayed at this bed and breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed every moment from the welcome to the beautiful room, comfortable bed and very attentive hosts. The breakfast was very good and I struggled to eat it all Andrew and Nicky made you feel more like family rather than guests ,will definitely return again for longer next time.

You just cannot get better!! It is unbelievably gorgeous - a home from home and Andrew and Nicky are exceptional hosts. I stayed with my kids and will be returning with my wife to be. If I don't rate somewhere, I post nothing but Ransomes is off the chart!! Don't book every weekend because I would like to go back soon!!!

As a single visitor on business in Colchester for a few days, the Annexe perfectly provided a peaceful and spacious self-contained lodging in a charming rural spot with lovely views over the countryside. Breakfasts, consisting of a wide choice of cereals, juices and cooked English options, were expertly prepared and served in the adjacent house. Hosts Andrew and Nicky are very amiable and clearly pay great attention to detail to ensure that their guests are comfortable. There is a small but perfectly good kitchen area for basic self-catering or a choice of local restaurants within a short drive
