Services
We have nine comfortable and roomy king-size rooms, either in the hotel, or in our cottages across the village green. All have super-king size beds. 5 rooms in the hotel (all first floor) and 3 rooms in our cottages (1 ground floor, 2 first floor), all with standard size double beds. All are ensuite and most have bath and shower, some shower only.
Served between 12pm and 2pm, Sunday Lunch in Hovingham is an institution for many of our regular guests. They appreciate the friendly service and comfortable atmosphere created in both the Restaurant and the Cricketer's Bar. Our location in the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which borders the North York Moors National Park is the idea rural spot for a 2 Rosette standard Sunday Lunch.
You'll undoubtedly meet Tony, who is not only the owner and general manager of the hotel, but is also a Master Sommelier. While he won't crow about it, he's very talented at helping guests to choose wine that will not only suit them, but the type of meal they're planning to have. Our wine list follows, but if you're interested, ask Tony about his secret stash of special wines that he keeps under lock and key!
The North York Moors offers the ideal location for a short break in the UK. The Worsley Arms Hotel is offering the perfect accommodation for a relaxing romantic break. Just call and let us know what you'd like and these can placed in your room ready for your arrival. We'll simply add the supplement to your final bill.
Currently, we can offer private dining (or zoned dining in specific parts of the hotel) for up to 6 people. Note that if diners are from different households, social distancing must be maintained - please give us prior notice so that we can plan tables/seating accordingly. Very nice hotel. Charming, actually. Friendly, relaxed and professional staff couldn't do enough for us during our stay. Food was fabulous, especially the pies - mentioned by other reviewers. Good wine list.
But it is not an American chain hotel where the rooms are ripped out and rebuilt every year or so, and it is all the better for it.

Called in for Sunday lunch whilst staying up the road at Castle Howard, we were a bit sceptical as not many people were in for dining (was only 12.30pm though). WOW! Fantastic lunch, veg all fresh and seasoned well, the roast beef was tasty and melted in the mouth.
The staff were all pleasant and attentive without being intrusive.
Dog friendly too which was a bonus.
I would make a special trip from where I live in Leeds for the Sunday lunch. Well worth the travel.
Thanks to all!

We booked last minute 2 plus a pooch, I think we got the room that's never really used, I understand that rooms with dogs aren't as good as rooms without dogs but there's no excuse for general cleanliness. The bedroom floor hadn't been vaccumed or the bathroom floor cleaned, and I think polish is a foreign word, the bathroom had 2 bulbs missing and the expelair didn't work, oh and the picture rail was disgusting, nothing a feather duster couldn't solve. Having said that the food was OK and the staff very nice, if you have dogs it's a good place to stay so longs you don't get rooms 20. There's a

Arrived here yesterday afternoon where we was politely greeted by members of staff.
We was shown to a table and good hygiene measures were practiced by all the staff.
The fact nothing was too much trouble to them either was just amazing given it was the first day back to some form of normality.
The homemade pie was just tremendous! The best I’ve had around North Yorkshire and I’ve had my fair share. My family all enjoyed the meals equally but this was a bit better then just pub grub! Well done
