Pro's: Great location.
Lovely reception staff. Extremely helpful, approachable and attentive.
Cons: Not a great place if you have mobility issues. Taxi's can't get you to the door before 8pm. Lots of narrow steep stairs (so ask for a room on the ground floor).
Noisy: the people in the room above turned into a herd of elephants at night. No sound proofing on the floors or between rooms.
The room was a little shabby, but clean, apart from a bad case of mould on the base of the shower. Scratches on the headboard were off-putting and frankly unwelcome.
Bed was comfortable but the pillows were

Great location, great staff. Loved the modern bathroom with a big shower. The bed in the room was huge ans comfortable.
Hotel in general is a bit run down and dusty, could do with a revamp. The price is a bit high considering it's a bit knackered.

Great location but expensive. Would have hoped for mure luxury for the price. Hotel was very compact with rooms very close together meaning you can hear your neighbours. Tv was too small for the room and shower would not work properly. Also got charged £3 for a bottle of still water...would have expected this complimentary given there was no breakfast included.

Unfortunately couldn't stay due to family issues arriving unexpectedly, but the customer service as a result of this has been shocking. No empathy, and when asked for a response they simply ignored me.
Policy is policy I can understand that, but to simply ignore someone when politely asking for a response is unbelievable. Not what you'd expect from this kind of hotel.
Had a booking for a few days over Xmas for my partner and family. That will be getting cancelled.
Unless you know for certain you can go, then don't bother. Because they don't take last minute issues lightly

Located in the heart of the city. This quirky, Court room themed hotel is really well presented. My room was very clean, well equipped and tidy. The staff were really helpful and polite. I'd definitely look to stay here again the next time I'm in York.

Please save yourself the disappointment.
I always think long and hard before leaving a negative review, running a business is hard, especially in today’s environment.
Google maps sets high expectations, listing in error as a 5 star, so you instantly think what a Bargain!
Sorry but it’s a very average and expensive 4 star. There are much better options at this price point in York.
Proprietor - this COULD be a wonderful hotel engage with your feedback and act quickly!

The entrance is a corridor just off the High Street, blink and you'll miss it. Great spot in the centre, high quality room on the top floor (stairs are very steep and no lift, recommend ground floor only if you struggle with stairs). Met Stanley the doggo here, he was super cute.
