The large gardens are an ideal setting for those fair weather days. A river running through the grounds is home to our resident ducks and swans and adds to the peacefully tranquillity. The Star Inn is a classic English pub in the village of Normans Bay, Pevensey. The pub/restaurant has lots to offer for all the family and is just a short distance from local towns Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings.

The Star Inn was formerly a sluice house and became an inn around the time of the civil war in Cromwell's era. The Star has seen some hectic days in its time but never more so than in the 18th century when organised smugglers, using wooden clubs and poles, fought customs men armed with cutlasses in front of the The Star Inn.

Great selection on Boxing day when we attended. More expensive than the normal menu but fully understandable because of the holiday period.
Good service and very friendly aswell...
All in all I would happily go back...
P.S. if it has been raining do not wash your car before your visit, it is a very narrow road with a good deal of mud and puddles in this weather...

Meal okay though everyone found their meat very tough - could have been a lot more tender, portion sizes were very good and the cheesecake dessert was really lovely and beautifully presented. I would like to see a really good trifle on the menu. Shame about the wallpaper, it gives me a migraine, Black and white bold paper, heavily patterned paper 😜 Toilets were very clean. Staff could definitely smile more.

When I was told we were having our Christmas Dinner at the star, I wasn't blown away. I had eaten here a few years ago (more like 10, thinking about it!). I couldn't of been more wrong. Staff were great and so was the food and drink! Had a lovey time. Came away 100% happy with the choice to have our Christmas day meal there. Will be going back.

Staff were lovely but my god the food is absolutely dreadful. I had roast chicken. The veg had been boiled or microwaved for so long it was mush. The roast potatoes deep fried. The chicken was not from a roast chicken but some sort of frozen breast. The gravy was thick and gloopy with no flavour like you’d get in school dinners…sorry that’s an insult to school dinners. Absolute rip off, £10 for main course of cheap slop. I’ve also added a photo of my Camembert starter, with fried bread Christmas tree and for some reason two bits of bread. I think the photo says it all. It made me chuckle

Set menu structure works well for the Star. Starter and main for 1 price, starter main and pudding for another set fee. With regular promotions seems regularly busy. Can't fault the menus, always good food. More than adequate bar (Harvey's on tap...so not for me...went with a lager), plenty of seating outside in the summer months. Super fast, friendly service, as always. Recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment if in a larger group.

Had a delicious meal today. Lovely friendly efficient staff. My friend and I go every week, never been disappointed with any meal. I would like to say a big THANK YOU to a member of staff that found an earring I’d lost. She ran out to the car park to return it to me. Very grateful as they were given to me by my late husband.

If I could give this place 6 stars I would!! It’s basically some sort of Time Travelling Narnia, where your food arrives before you’ve even ordered it! It’s unbelievably cheap, and actually quite tasty! The menus will give you as many lols as heart palpitations! - But this just adds to the charm of this place! The staff are great! Would recommend. My vegan friend said they could do with a few more options on their menu… I say, don’t ever change Star Inn you’re perfect just as you are! 🤣❤️👍
