Services
I fulfil the typical sterotypes of The Italian Man when it comes to food, family and football. Of course my vespa has a special place in my heart too! I love going back to Naples every year to see my family, especially in the summer, the food is great and if I don't get any sun I go green. I love living back in my homeland, being close to my family and those old friendships that never change.
My husband Andrea and I run the restaurant. With many years of experience in this trade behind us. After 13 years in Edinburgh and a year in Italy we returned to my roots to grow our family and establish a new business. The Pheasant interior has been renovated with my creative eye; a modern rustic styled dining room with bespoke lighting, driftwood bar and original artwork create an elegant, warm and cosy atmosphere.
Although strongly influenced by traditional Italian cooking methods the dishes themselves do not stop at the traditional. Dishes "just the way my Mamma makes them" are combined with more contemporary flavours not commonly found in Italy. Our seasonal menu offers a concise selection of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes and assures our customers all our dishes are freshly prepared.
The story of The Pheasant started for us when we moved back from Turin, Italy in the summer of 2015 with our 2 month old son Duncan. My dad, Colin Dewar had bought the old Pheasant Inn premises the year before and had plans to rennovate the C Listed building back in to two houses. Just a little retirement project!

What a gem - we had a large family group here for lunch during the week, and the team were so warm, attentive and welcoming. Delicious Italian food, fresh pasta, beautiful produce and made with such care. The desserts were delicious, the children's portions perfect. A very lucky find on our holiday- jealous of the locals who have this restaurant in their doorstep.

A lovely family meal. A simple menu with fabulous Italian pasta dishes with some tasty starters to get the taste buds going. Pizzas for little ones only during busy periods - my vegetarian teenage daughter was a bit disappointed that she couldn’t have pizza as the two vege options for mains weren’t really her sort of thing. Everyone was delighted with their puddings though - the Tiramisu is highly recommended!

Popped in for lunch whilst on holiday. We decided to book a table for the following night for my son's birthday. I asked if there was anywhere I could buy a cake and if it was OK to bring it. they offered to… make us a cake of his choice there and then! the following evening the meal was delicious. The cake was great as well.
Friendly and considerate, the staff let us start to use the Internet and pointed us in the right direction for activities.
I can't rate this place high enough. food - brilliant staff - fantastic 10/10

We had a lovely couple of meals at the Pheasant. Quaint family run place. We came for dinner one night and returned for lunch the next day.
Freshly made piping hot food, friendly and attentive staff, lovely family feel.
If you want tasty home cooked food, at a reasonable price, with a homely feel, don’t hesitate to dine.

We had an excellent dinner for 2 at The Pheasant last month. The menu was fairly limited which in my opinion is a great thing - everything was freshly cooked and in season. The staff and the owners were friendly and helpful. I would love to be able to visit regularly but sadly we live about 4 hours away.
