Lightning Protection Services
Lightning strikes the ground throughout the world 100 times every second. It is known as one of nature's most destructive elements. A single bolt can carry up to one billion volts of energy and can reach temperatures of 28,000'c. As a result of changing weather patterns, lightning strikes in the UK are increasing year on year.

Your safety and the efficiency of your business depends on the safety measures you undertake. Whether it is a domestic, commercial or historic building we can help to protect your building. We can complete a lightning risk assessment, advice, design, install, test and certify to the British standard; BSEN 62305/ International standard; IEC 62305 or ESE standard NFC-17-102.
Services
LPS (Lightning Protection Services) was formed in 1991 by a management team with a combined 60 years' experience and knowledge of the lightning conductor industry. Under the teams guidance a highly skilled, experienced and dedicated workforce has seen LPS steadily grow to become a leading authority within our field of operations.
LPS has a management team with a good mix of experience and fresh up to date technology; designing, installing and maintaining lightning conductor systems. We pride ourselves on providing as non-intrusive but efficient systems as reasonably practical. Recommending and designing the best type of Lightning Protection system to suit the building whilst complying with the current standard.
LPS accredited design engineers will design your Lightning Protection System to the correct class as revealed by the risk assessment and the information gained from the site survey or working closely with your architects. We can design a system that works for you and your business. All LPS engineers are directly employed, fully trained, experienced, and CITB/CSCS certified lightning conductor engineers.
For a lightning protection system to function as designed in the event of a lightning strike, it is essential that the lightning conductor system is maintained and kept in good order. It is important that all lightning protection systems should be tested by a specialist at least every 12 months but we always recommend testing is carried out every 11 months.
Electronic system protection was included as a requirement of lightning systems in 2008 with the introduction of BS EN 62305. The standard now combines the external lightning protection system with the buildings internal components. It is now recognised that the electromagnetic effects of lightning related activity can cause heavy damage to electric/electronic systems & equipment resulting business downtime.
