They had a mission to provide a family run veterinary practice that could offer a personal tailor made service with an emphasis on high quality veterinary care while remaining affordable. From working out of a small Portakabin in Powburn with 3 Vets and 2 support staff we have grown into a 6 Vet truly mixed practice.
Most of our growth has been through "word of mouth" and we are proud to have built our reputation for having animal care and welfare as our main priority. The Portakabin was replaced with a bright and airy small animal practice in a converted barn on a farm where the aim is to feel as "un-vet" like as possible.

Services
Our farm services offer a traditional service but with a modern approach. We promote 'prevention rather than cure'. We endeavour to help make our farm clients more efficient and hence more profitable whilst at the same time striving towards the highest welfare standards. Herd/flock health plans (inlcuding SAC animal health planning system) and disease accreditation (PCHS).
Cheviot Vets are dedicated to providing all our clients and their animals the very best of clinical care, backed up by a highly motivated, caring and well trained team and a 24 hour emergency service. We believe that our fees are very competitive. Pricing and costs are based upon prompt payment within our stated terms and conditions - we cannot sustain our competitive fees if clients do not settle their accounts on time.
You can also sign up for our occasional Newsletters. Our Powburn practice is just 1/2 a mile North of Powburn on the A697, on the road to Ingram. Once there, simply follow the signs. Our Kelso practice is just on a right turn off the B6352 on the road from Kelso to Yetholm, in the new part of the Pinnaclehill Industrial Estate.

Positive: Professionalism, Responsiveness
We arrived late afternoon for a holiday nearby, and found that we had left the medication for our dog at home. Phoned them up, explained the problem. They contacted our vet and had medication availble for us to pick up first thing the following morning. Excellent service, really helpful and friendly staff.

I was in holiday in area when I needed a vet for my dog. Rang at 9am and although they were very busy, gladky agreed to see him at 11.20. Upon arrival the vet scanned is microchip and checked on computer (glad to see this procedure carried out with all dog thefts going on). Vet was really lovely and totally thorough on examining and treating my dog. I would definitely recommend. Thank you again
