Lovely location and the garden rooms have views across the rear to the river Tyne. The room was warm and comfortable and breakfast was good quality and well cooked. The nearby village was an easy walk either along the road or the riverside and I would recommend a walk to the waterfall. Would stay again if in the area. The only negative was that the hotel suffered s power cut on our departure morning and there was no hot water. While I appreciate this was not the fault of the hotel I would expect an apology for our inconvenience.

Pros: Nice rooms, relatively clean. Warm swimming pool. Comfy bed. Close to local amenities and attractions. Lovely food. Welcoming reception.
Cons: Filthy remote and dusty shelves. Shower dribbles on you. Bath has tiny flies landing in it each day without windows open. Hit and miss dining service, sometimes felt overlooked. Sauna was out of use, swimming pool water was cloudy.

We were a group of 8 cyclists staying 1 night on the last leg of The Sandstone Way.
The staff were very friendly and helpful in all respects.
We had dinner and breakfast and the food was excellent.
We had use of the swimming pool which was much needed after 6 hours of riding.
The accommodation was very nice, clean and well appointed.
All in all a very pleasurable stay.
