Services
Tucked away within the hotel is our sister restaurant, Hjem. Hjem (pronounced "yem") is both a Northumbrian and Scandinavian word for "home", making it an apt name for the restaurant which sees the very best produce of Northumberland come together with Scandinavian values and cooking techniques.
Please be advised that Hjem's booking system is operated independently of the hotel and so a room booking does not guarantee you a table in the restaurant.

We'd love to hear from you! Feel free to also check out our FAQ page with lots of general questions about dining and staying with us. If travelling by public transport, we recommend taking the train to Hexham Train Station and getting a taxi from outside the station. Trains to Hexham from Newcastle run roughly every 40 minutes from Central Station and the journey takes around 35 minutes.

The beds were comfortable, bathroom was clean and nice.
The restaurant had great dinner meal choices. Really yummy pie! The gin choices are fantastic too.
Staff were super lovely and helpful.
They even sorted out the heating in our room when I complained it was very cold.
The drying room was useful too for our wet clothes.
The breakfast had a limited choice and no fresh fruit on offer. But the juices were delicious.
Would stay again.

Stayed for a night for hubby's birthday as eating at Hjem. Lovely room in the eaves but I had to be very careful getting in and our of bed as I has the sloped ceiling side!! Spotless and comfy with coffee maker as well as kettle etc. Breakfast was good with Daz having full Northumberland with blackpudding and I went for scrambled egg with smoked salmon on sour dough. Bar area very elegant and they welcomed dogs too as long as well behaved.

Stayed here for a night, ate dinner in the pub side of the hotel, and had breakfast. Couldn't fault our stay. The hotel rooms are very well furnished, plain but modern. Comfortable bedding. Breakfast was fantastic, and very high quality fresh food with plenty of choice. Proper coffee and excellent service. Finally, dinner was excellent. Staff were very friendly, great choice of food, and even had a vegan menu. Would happily return!
