One of the area's most friendly, and welcoming Italian restaurants, Piccolo Mondo 1 is the oldest in the city, having been established since 1969. Piccolo Mondo is open for lunch and evening meals. With seating for only 34 people, it is small enough to have an intimate atmosphere, but also welcomes families.
There is a good choice of value for money meals including authentic pizzas and pastas, together with a selection of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes, and not forgetting their home-made bread and desserts. Smaller sized meals are available for children. Parties of up to 25 people can be catered for.

Calling this place " Trattoria Italiana", and showing the Italian flag is an utter insult to my country, its people, and our love for food. Please call it "Inspired by Italy" or "Italian food for non Italians" instead.
I am Italian and I would have loved to try some decent pizza to remind me of home. So I went ahead and ordered a "quattro stagioni" and some antipasto. The antipasto had some raw peppers and tomato thrown in there, and the rest was just stuff likely bought at Tesco's and placed there. The oil was drained from the tuna, which made it dry and tasteless. Italians love oil! :( ...

Great little Italian restaurant hidden in a small alley in the town centre. Felt like a true Italian place, authentic and the food matched. Started with eggplant/aubergine parmigiana, and it was great. Rich flavour, big portion and felt very "traditional." Followed by the grilled prawns, very nice size portion and accompanied by a good salad (rather than heavy carbs). Loved my meal, looking forward to returning.

We had an interesting but amazing experience! I took my little one for a treat as he has always wanted to go there after hearing the radio adverts 😂 so we went and unfortunately he was ill and ending up being… sick in the restaurant, everyone was amazing and the way they dealt with it was amazing they comforted little one, let us take food home and booked us in for another visit, we then visited again once he was well and the food was amazing and the service was just amazing! Will definitely be back and can’t thank the staff enough

Staff was really friendly and welcoming but the food was just okay, no many choices of pasta, just spaghetti or penne (I was expecting at least rigatoni from an Italian restaurant) . In my opinion there are better Italian restaurants in Southampton . But the atmosphere is really nice, is a quick trip to Italy without leaving UK!!

Was recommended this little hidden gem and decided to go here for my birthday. We received a lovely warm welcome. Carmo and the team are brilliant and so accommodating. The atmosphere was great. You actually feel you are in an Italian restaurant on holiday. Our meals were really delicious and I can't wait to go back. Thank you for making my birthday feel special.

Lovely warm welcome, love this little hidden gem in the middle of Southampton. Been coming here for over 40 years and you still get the authentic Italian experience, the cheesy garlic bread was amazing and the best around, the red wine also went down well, congrats to all the staff for a lovely place to chill and relax.

Piccolo Mondo has one of the nicest atmospheres in Southampton. I used to live right next door and went frequently and now I go back whenever I can, the staff are lovely, the food is very reasonably priced and incredibly tasty. The restaurant is not large, which adds to the atmosphere but it does mean its worth booking especially if you're a larger group!
