We visited for our Christmas meal and we were a large group to cater for. In general it was pretty good although I felt the food was disappointing for the money it cost. The mains were delivered and most people were at least halfway through before the veg accompaniments arrived. The staff worked hard but were not particularly friendly and one was borderline rude telling us we couldn't carry our own drinks to the table despite nobody being willing to provide table service for ordering drinks during the meal. We visited mid week and there was absolutely no atmosphere at all. They also added a 10

I don't get to eat there often (I run a community project so out of my budget) but, goodness! It's worth the money! The food is more than delicious; the staff are very friendly; and the building is stunning. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely lovely dinner today, called in on the off chance of getting a table, had a delicious starter of smoked salmon and avocado with beetroot followed by roast lamb which was cooked too perfection with delicious vegetables and gravy, which went down a treat with a bottle of Italian wine, we then had a Irish coffee with a cheeseboard. Fantastic service.

Sunday lunch was wonderful! Great portions, amazing roasties and all cooked fresh. Lovely atmosphere and very comfortable. But if a wait for the food to arrive but worth it. Only negative for me was toilets downstairs and I don’t have the best mobility. Definitely go again

We really loved the atmosphere. It’s a nice interior here and of course you feel the connection with the old times and history. We had afternoon tea, it was fresh, and very tasty! And a good price and service.

We went to a Billy Joel/Elton john live music, 3 course meal cabaret. The food was very good, the starter was a chicken liver terrine, prawn and potato and leek soup. The main meal was lamb rack, lamb Wellington and potato and pea mash (there was a choice of main meal but not starter or dessert). The dessert was a lemon tart, chocolate mouse and berry salad.
The service was very attentive and friendly and the décor was beautiful.

Masquerading as a high class establishment. The food is okay. We had to go into the cost room to get our own coats as the staff were too busy chatting behind the bar...All 6 of them.

Went here for my father-in-law's birthday celebration and the place is pretty good. The food was cooked well, and the service we received was quite pleasant. But, the starter I had was rather lacklustre - I had the crispy duck pancakes. The crispy duck was so overcooked that I couldn't bite into it, it was that tough.

The entree (mains) was pretty good, for the most part. It was a Sunday Roast, so we had our choice of various types of proteins (the sides were the same for each dish though - mashed squash, parsnip, broccoli, boiled potatoes & a yorkshire pudding .. oh and an ocean

This restaurant was the talk of the town when it first opened. Glad to say it still holds a great reputation for fine dining. I have been here on different occasions Valentines day, birthdays and office parties. The staff have always been discreet professional and smart. The prices are expensive but it all adds to the glamour of the setting. The restaurant is beautiful inside I'd suggest going there in the evening rather then lunchtime to get the full effect of the lighting. The bar is very elegant and the ceilings are vaulted with beautifully restored mouldings and decorative plaster.

Amazing food in the heart of Southampton, great service best meal we have had in many years. Possibly a little loud for a romantic evening but otherwise a good atmosphere.
