Pinocchio's Children's Nurseries are a group of 5 award winning children's nurseries across Edinburgh & Midlothian. We currently have purpose built day nurseries in Eskbank, Gilmerton, Heriot watt, Lasswade and Penicuik.
We are delighted to achieve Investors in People Gold in 2019 and wholeheartedly believe that offering quality training to our teams impacts positively on the children's development. The majority of our employees are qualified professionals in Early Years Care and Education. Our employees who are not yet qualified are working towards this.
Our everyday practice is guided by the following documents, which are interlinked to support outcomes for children. Eating well is essential for children in their early years. Food Matters celebrates the many ways in which early learning and childcare (ELC) settings are supporting children to have positive eating experiences and enjoy well-balanced, nutritious food.
Nursery helps children to enjoy the rewards of friendship. The ability to socialise and work with others are both essential skills for future happiness and success. Research shows that children who have enjoyed the benefits of a good nursery perform better socially and emotionally at school. Learning to be away from a parent is one of the biggest hurdles a young child experiences.

My son has been attending this nursery for nearly 2 years, started just after his first birthday and as hard work and a little bruiser he is, the nursery staff are absolutely fantastic with him! Whenever he’s off he’s asking to go back and are great with me as a parent and are so understanding and support me in all my parenting choices. Can’t recommend enough!

Highly recommended- my son has attended full-time since he was 12 months old and has enjoyed all his time there. The practitioners form a very close bond with the children, and they run all kinds of fun activities- both indoor and outdoor- to keep the children busy and support their early learning. Staff are also very eager and quick to take suggestions from parents, which keeps me feeling involved and valued as a full time working mum.

I highly recommend Pinocchios nursery the staff are very friendly, there is always plenty of activities for the children, my child speaks highly of the staff to the point where he misses them. He has also come on leaps and bounds thanks to the nursery. I feel at ease leaving my child in their care. 5***** from me

My Daughter has been in Pinocchio’s at Heriot Watt since she was 9 months old, she has recently transferred over with me to the Gilmerton branch. I cannot thank the team for being so great with Ivy, she loves all the staff, all the experiences the staff provide (especially the messy ones haha),
