Tonight I sat watching a cat grooming video on You Tube. The groomer was demonstrating how to do a lion cut. In the room was the groomer, the owner and a person filming. I was appalled at how the cat was being treated. The groomer handled the cat like it was a piece of meat with no feelings.

Anita Kelsey, cat grooming specialist and cat behaviour consultant, is now offering one on one mobile cat grooming lessons for cat owners. Whether you have a long haired breed such as a Persian or Ragdoll or whether your cat has short hair like a Russian Blue, you can learn to groom your cat using the correct tools and combing techniques.
Due to the problems presented to owners of cats that hate grooming I have started offering personalised home consultations that are part behaviour/part grooming. Every cats personality and needs are different and every cat has to be approached with this in mind. There are different levels of aggression and also different reasons why behaviours are occurring.

We found Anita to be extremely professional and she followed all the health and safety guidelines on entering our premises. She is definitely kind, understanding, patient and displayed a beautiful compassion and love for cats.
She didn’t rush our Abicat, who was obviously nervous and she took time to become acquainted. The grooming session was done with the Abicat’s welware being the total focus. Thinking of strategies to calm her as well as offering several comfort breaks. Anita was very thorough, and also clipped our Abicats nails.

Long haired Basil hates her tummy being groomed, and had developed some horrible matts. Anita to the rescue - to the sound of classical music - all matts removed. Plus we were given really useful tips about how to keep things in hand in the future, and handy advice on grooming equipment and cat toys. Thank you so much Anita - we have a very happy cat again 😻

So we inherited a cat (Abby) from next door when they got a dog and she started living outside all year round. Abby now lives with us and has freedom indoors and outdoors. Being long haired she had matting galore and we thought that was the only issue. Course this year got in the way and we have only just been able to get to see Anita. Anita works with Addison & Holland Park vets and they are amazing as well. In conjunction with Anita we had a near lion cut groom and issues that a previous (different vet nearer to home) visit had missed, abscesses claws impacted into pads, a tooth issue and a heart

Anita clearly loves what she does and this reflects itself in the superb quality and skill of her grooming. My cat was in an awful state with big matted clumps and was in desperate need of help. Anita, you have given my cat a new lease of life, he has been purring non stop and running around like a spring lamb despite his old age. Words are not enough to express our gratitude. Anita was truly gentle and effective with my two Alexandrite Siberian cats Fe and Pt. Fe has particularly troublesome hair, and we need to preempt tangles and matting under his legs and on his tummy. Pt has never been groomed before, and is a highly strung cat. Anita handled them brilliantly and lovingly.

I strongly recommend Anita if you are looking for a professional and friendly cat groomer. My 5 years old Persian boy (Gandalf) was a rescue. He was badly neglected by the previous owner and was very timid and scared. Anita is patience and she is very experienced in dealing with timid cats.
When she knows Gandalf is scared of the noise of any electrical appliances, she took her time to make sure Gandalf won't get shocked by the shower and the hair dryer; and thanks to her, the whole bathing routine went smoothly.

I have Anita come once twice every year, each time my semi-long haired Siberian changes coat. She is very good at keeping the difficult cats calm and content throughout the processes. After the grooming she is quite content and happy, quite a different reaction from when I have to clean her myself or with a friend. My favorite part is actually not grooming related: Anita has some pretty advanced knowledge about cats behavior/needs so she gives wonderful advice. Anita is amazing ! I had my Persian Cat for 8 years and I had him groomed regularly. Last week was his first time with Anita. It was the least stressful time ever and in fact it was the first time that I actually stayed with him while he was being groomed. It was a real learning and educational experience, Anita was so gentle and loving and genuinely caring. We came home after using Catnip to look after our cats to two very hungry, upset and stressed cats. The tins of food I had left out on the counter were still unopened. On contacting Catnips I was told she forgot to come and feed them for two visits. I was mortified that my cats had gone for 32 hours without any food or without anyone checking they were ok.
