Newburgh-on-Ythan Golf club is situated on the Aberdeenshire coast less than 15 miles from Aberdeen. The courses newer Front 9 offers fantastic views of the Ythan estuary, Forvie Sands, Newburgh Beach and the North Sea. The Front 9 added in 1994 offers a more modern feel, with tiered greens and holes laid out over more undulating land.
It includes some quirky features, like the stone wall situated in the fairway of the 4th Hole "Drovers". The Golfers Journal Senior Writer Tom Coyne and Author of "A Course Called Scotland" commented that it "made it directly onto my list of the top holes in Scotland" following his visit to the course in 2015 while writing the book.

Newburgh on Ythan golf course claims to have a championship links. It certainly has a championship club house but nothing else. No irrigation, pock marked greens, irregular bounces, countless holes blind over marker posts or uphill. No yardage charts available either. There are lots of lovely tracks to play in this part of Scotland. Leave this one alone.
