The highest golf course in England (1476 feet asl) Alston Moor offers a challenging 18 holes of golf, over its 10 greens and 18 tee positions (mens and ladies). The club, is situated 2 miles south of Alston in 132 acres of parkland, high meadow and pasture land. 15 miles south of Hadrian's Wall, within the AONB, it offers spectacular views of the North Pennines.

Alston Moor Golf Club invites tenders for grass cutting and associated duties for 2019 season. Please apply in writing to: -Secretary, Alston Moor Golf Club, The Hermitage, Alston, Cumbria CA9 3DB. Role is classed as a part time self employed Contractor and therefore any appointee would have to have Personal Public Liability Insurance.
Greenends sits in what was once the wealthiest lead mining centre in Europe, the area is richly endowed with the historic remains of the once thriving industries which populated the area. Numerous mysterious humps, mine shafts and stone chimneys bear witness to the legacy of this industrial past. Evidence of Roman times are here to be explored with the local Epiacum Roman Fortress site just over the hill.
We welcome you to Lowbyer Manor, our Grade II listed Georgian Manor House, situated in Alston, Cumbria at the very heart of the North Pennines. This comfortable Manor House is situated on the fringe of Alston town and is an ideal location for exploring this beautiful, quiet countryside undiscovered by most.
We are located on the main street in Alston, next door to the Victoria Inn, which operates an Indian restaurant on some nights of the week. Alston is well served by pubs, eating places, numerous independent shops, a Post Office, Co-op and Spar shop, all of which are within 2-3 minutes walk of Ryder House.
Even with the dry spell you are in a better position than a year ago with moss being kept on the back foot allowing grass density to increase. Also, the cores removed on the day showed strong root development through the top 100mm and the soil below 50/60mm was still cool and moist providing the grass plant with moisture due to the deeper rooting.

Having been a Golf Professional for over 40 years I Have played some Amazing & Very Famous Golf courses, Myself & my wife turned up and played this Absolutely Wonderful little golf course With the Most Unbelievable Views,
It’s everything you could ever want from Golf , Just Wonderful!!
