Borders massage Therapist professional massage therapy & therapeutic muscle treatments in the Scottish Borders. The term massage therapy encompasses many different and varied techniques used to manipulate the muscles and other soft tissues of the body, helping to alleviate the pain, discomfort, stress and tension which builds up during illness or physical activity.

My name is Gillian McCrirrick (NAMMT CNHC, Dip Thermass frm) and I work from my studio in the Scottish Border town of Galashiels. I am a highly qualified, experienced massage therapist, specialising in deep tissue, sports and relaxing massage treatments, providing the highest quality of care and more importantly positive results.
Services
I am a full member of the National Association of Massage and Manipulative Therapists and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council. These organisations are highly recommended by the health care profession and it requires many hours of Continued Professional Development (CPD) to be an accredited member.
Many people do not realise the detrimental effect of muscular imbalance and chronic injuries, much of which are quite reversible, such as lower back pain, nerve disorders, repetitive stress injuries (RSI), frozen shoulder, sciatica and postural problems which can restrict the range of movement making parts of your body seem very heavy.
Deep Tissue Massage [DTM] is a type of massage therapy that focuses on the problems that everyday stresses and strains of modern life throw at you, like back pain, sprains, tension, postural issues, fatigue, lower back tightness, repetitive strain injuries, etc. Releasing chronic muscle tension through slow deep strokes and increased finger pressure across or following the muscles fibres and associated soft tissue.
Sports Massage is a specialised form of massage typically used before, during, and after physical events, playing an important role as part of training maintenance during off-season, pre-season and post-season, in preventing injuries and enhancing performance.

Training for a sporting event can take its toll on your body, so no matter your sport, no matter what level you are at, regular sports massage can be a tremendous supplement to training, allowing you to maintain good muscle condition and improved flexibility.
The aim of Indian Head Massage is to release the stress that can accumulate in the tissues and muscles of the head, face, neck and shoulders and is a wonderfully relaxing and effective therapy, designed to relieve anxiety, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis.

The head and shoulders are common areas for holding tension and an Indian Head Massage is unique in that it involves gentle relaxing therapy, focused around the upper back, neck, shoulders, arms, scalp and face, providing relief from aches and pains and giving you a sense of profound calmness and tranquillity.
