The three most popular educational approaches are Montessori, Waldorf and Reggio Emilia. All of these originated at the beginning of the 20th century as an attempt to counteract the educational crisis faced by Europe's most disadvantaged children. Forest School is a relatively modern approach that came to the UK from Sweden and Denmark in the 90s, having evolved over 40 years for early years.
The Little School has developed over 30 years and we continue to cherry pick the best parts of each educational approach. We know that every child is unique and one method cannot possibly work for every child. At any moment, our educators will be practising different aspects of all of these unique methods.

Services
We provide opportunities for children to gain confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning in the natural world. We encourage all children to take part in outdoor activities from an early age, as this helps develop social skills, independence and motivation. Our imaginative play spaces use all of a child's senses, develop their imagination and promote health and well-being.
We are constantly looking for ways to change and improve our facilities to ensure that we provide a stimulating environment that will inspire, motivate and encourage all children. We are particularly proud of the way our Forest School teaching has expanded. Much of our learning is done outside in an environment that provides endless opportunities for creativity and imagination.
The 'one size fits all' approach does not work with anybody, especially children who are learning at a much quicker rate than adults do. We compare this problem with trying to fit a square peg into a round hole - It just won't fit! This is applicable to all children, including those with additional needs or English as an additional language.
We employ cooks in both of our nurseries, to help provide a healthy, nutritious diet embracing different dishes from around the world. Registered with the British Nutritional Foundation, HENRY (Health, Exercise and Nutrition for the Really Young) and the First Steps Nutrition Trust, we work hard to improve nutrition, fight obesity, encourage exercise and improve oral health in infants and young children.
Set in the picturesque village of Sheet, within Petersfield a stately building with 2 very magical hidden gardens. Children flourish in these idyllic surroundings where walks, nature trails and daily outings to our Forest School, park and hidden garden (see below) provide diverse opportunities for growth and excitement.

Fabulous nursery. Focus on individual development, team work, skills required for starting school. Come home singing new songs and telling us about the planets and how their brains work! Etc etc. Very friendly and kind staff. Amazing large outdoor spaces (with toys, obstacles, planted fruit and veg plus much much more) where they spend hours next to a farm and get to see/feed the animals daily. Both children go to Pooh Corner and love it so much! Money very well spent! Thank you Pooh Corner you are an amazing team.
