Services
Whichever way you reach Crosswoodhill (hopefully in something more robust than the plane above!) you'll love relaxing in this rural oasis between Edinburgh and Glasgow. Well placed in West Lothian, on the north side of the Pentland Hills, Crosswoodhill Farm is the ideal holiday base for exploring large areas of scenic Scotland and its cities.
Please note: Crosswoodhill is on the A70, not the A71 as our West Calder address misleadingly suggests. On arrival call at our main farmhouse door beside the red gravel. If no reply, a note pinned to this door will enable you to locate your property and we will meet up with you later. Or if using satellite navigation: our postcode is: EH55 8LP This may take you to the "wrong house", our shepherd's one-storey house, "The Beeches".
The 4 STAR quality grading awarded by VisitScotland (formerly the Scottish Tourist Board) to this annually inspected property allows us officially to describe it as "Excellent" accommodation. Kingsize bed downstairs 30 cms from floor to slatted base; 56 cms from floor with mattress. Owner/ Manager "G" has completed VisitScotland's Accessible Tourism Customer Service Training.
Craigengar has been re-named as "Glenfairn Lodge" by BBC2 for their 2000 "Xmas Special" of TWO DOORS DOWN. The Glaswegian bickering neighbours in this 30 minute sit-com film enjoy an entertaining festive break in the Highlands. This superb Craigengar lodge can be booked for up to 3 night weekend stays from a Friday.
Crosswoodhill Farm near Edinburgh is unusual in offering you 4 very different properties of varying sizes and STAR grading! Each has a unique layout and design, style of dcor and furnishings. All guarantee comfort and a welcoming ambience. Your choice may be dictated by many factors.

It could be budget, disability needs for ground floor bedrooms or bathrooms, size of party, grading, a preference for a detached property, or simply taste or availability. And there the similarity ends! To help you choose the home-from-home that best meets your needs, these snapshot summaries below may help answer some of the most frequently asked questions.

Geraldine at Crosswoodhill Farm really came to our rescue when my mum had a long stay in St Johns hospital. Without her we would of struggled to find anywhere to stay for the two months she was a patient. We stayed in all four self catering properties over the two months and they were all fantastic, especially Craigengar, the grandest house I've stayed in. Thanks again G.

Great location, the place is great but the owner/host is abrupt and can be very rude.
The area hardly gets phone signal and the wifi barely works.
Finding the entrance to the house is very hard and you will miss is it the first 2 times. They need to put up a visible sign or something bigger than a small rectangle.
Otherwise it was a great week.

Spent the weekend here with our family, excellent accommodation, plenty of space for the grandchildren to play, especially the outside area. The house was in a secluded area with beautiful views and the sheep in the field added to the enjoyment of the kids, would certainly recommend.

Nice clean accommodation in country side between Edinburgh and Glasgow. Parking and play equipment for kids, but be warned you have to pay for electricity and heating at end of week

It is a terrific place with cottages on a farm and a large extensive garden. Pet friendly and child friendly. The host G. Is very helpful and has impressive knowledge about the area. Cosy accomodation with fireplace. Truly a home from home.
