Aged Christian Friend Society Of Scotland
Our cottages are situated in beautifully maintained gardens set between Redford Road and Thorburn Road in Colinton, Edinburgh. The complex consists of 41 cottages 30 offering single accommodation and 11 double with all the cottages having their own front door. Colinton Cottages are within walking distance of Colinton village and in easy reach of local shops.

There is a good bus service into the city. On site there is a meeting hall which Tenants can use independently and where weekly activities are organised by the Tenants Social Committee. If Tenants wish to have a friend or family member stay over there is a Guest Room with twin beds, T.V., fridge and microwave and en suite shower room available at a reasonable cost.
Services
The Society's objectives are of a charitable nature beneficial to the community in relieving the needs of the elderly.

This is to be achieved by supporting men and women who are resident in Scotland and are 65 years of age or over ( and any individuals who are not resident but have a connection with Scotland consideration will also be given to people under 65 in exceptional circumstances)through the provision of retirement housing and other facilities and the payment of annual grants to such individuals.
There are 31 properties for single occupancy and 10 properties for couples. Some of the flats are located on an upper level and access is gained by stairs. All properties have their own front door and are linked to Hanover Telecare Alarm Service, who provide emergency assistance on a 24 hour 7 days a week basis.
The Cottage Homes are managed by a full time manager who is supported by a part time assistant. Denise is the assistant manager, Denise is part-time, working her hours to suit the needs of the housing service. Denise provides cover for John and is involved in signposting Tenants to external services if required.
The Board meets on a quarterly basis and has delegated the day to day management tasks to the manager of the Cottage Homes who is an employee of the Society.

The Directors who have a range of skills are allocated oversight responsibilities according to their knowledge and interests in order to provide a framework for the support and management of employees and third party contractors and to ensure the best interests of the tenants are looked after.Paul is a practicing advocate with a broad civil and commercial practice.
