Thames Ditton & Esher Golf Club
Founded in 1892 and built on common land the course has the feel of an inland links course with nine greens played from 18 separate tees and measuring 5,190 yards, par 66. It is a tough and enjoyable test for any level of golfer. Thames Ditton & Esher is a members' club run by members for theirs and visitors' benefit and enjoyment.

The course is located between Sandown Park Racecourse and the Marquis of Granby pub (on the Scilly Isles roundabout) in Esher, Surrey and has good access from the A3, Hampton Court, Esher. There is even a train station (Esher) behind the first green. The course is situated on extremely well drained soil and barring freak weather conditions, it is open 52 weeks a year.
Services
Founded in 1892, so the course is well matured, and has the feel of an inland links course, boasting some of the best laid greens in Surrey. The course has 9 holes played from two separate tee's and measures 5,190 yards, par 66. It is a fair and enjoyable test for any level of golfer. The course is situated on extremely well drained soil and barring freak weather conditions it is open 52 weeks a year.
A three hole golf course was established by Hannibal Speer (born Hannibal Sandys) for his servants. The source of which can be found in an article written in 'Thames Ditton Today' (see below) in the winter of 1973. Hannibal had inherited the Lordship of the manor of Weston a couple of stages removed from his grandfather William Speer (the younger) who bought it from the crown in 1801 along with its commons.
Unlimited golf, competitions every week (midweek and weekend competitions) and one of the friendliest clubs in the UK. Fully licensed 19th hole serving beers, wines and snacks. The Southern 9 Hole Network is a group of like-minded 9 hole clubs that have 'teamed up' to offer a fantastic no-cost membership benefit.

Quite frankly this is the worst place I’ve played golf, when designing this course they must have forgot to put any fairways in! The rough is close to unplayable you’d be better off taking a lawnmower with you.
Also pack binoculars because you will lose balls either landing in the extensive waist high rough or because you’ve played it onto the next hole that seems to share the same fairway.
Don’t forget a hard hat or helmet as you will be teeing off into the direction of another group of golfers.
Compass and maps are also required to make sense of the most confusing arrangement of holes

First of all, I just want to say that the guy on the till was very friendly.
The course itself is terrible. It’s very poorly maintained and there aren’t really any fairways, it’s just rough. The actual rough is just bushes and trees. The greens are OK. The 18 holes share 9 greens which makes things quite chaotic. At one point myself and another player took turns aiming in eachothers direction.
The public walk around this course without a care in the world, literally walking right across a hole. I had to delay teeing off on one hole as a family decided to stop right in the centre to take

Very friendly and helpful staff.
The course can be overwhelming to start, but easily overcome. Do ask for directions like I did and the members were understanding and friendly.
Please be aware holes 3-8 are on common land, expect to come across dog walkers and the public. Keep your ball on the fairway and you will enjoy this testing course. If you don't you might find your ball, but if you don't I'm positive you will find a few others that went MIA from other members while looking for yours.

This is awful. Not 18 holes course - it's 9 greens and 18 Tees. DANGEROUS, constantly crossing over fairways. Clientele has no eticate. Fairways like dirt tracks, sprinkler covers on greens says it all. Avoid Avoid Avoid.

Awful course, badly maintained, nearly done my ankle a couple of times in holes. Very very patchy. Some of the holes cross over each other. We were very close to being hit. Its like playing in a public park but worse. People picnicking on the course with children. I'm used to playing on council courses that arent amazing but this is a new level completely. Im a beginner and even i wont be going back.

Friendly staff, but terrible course design and plant layout. It's basically 9 greens in your local common - there is a single fairway where three holes share, with people walking their dogs off the leash. Fun, but the whole experience was quite stressful.

Cheap but terrible condition. On common ground, so lots and lots dog walkers and zombies glued to phones wandering the fairways. Fairways very ropey and greens not good.

Groupon deal. Poorly maintained and poorly organised course, no sign posts for next hole and weird layout. We couldn't find the 7th hole even with the 'map'. Public walking around and cycling like it's a park. Actually a 9 hole course you play twice! Awful, not even worth the Groupon deal. Oh and a dead pigeon carcass next to the 6th green was quite a sight...never again!

Excellent surroundings and very warm hospitality.
Golf course great to play but reasonably narrow fairways due to it being on common land.
Hence Par 66

Very good golf club.
A lovely old course built in 1892. Some short but challenging holes.
Food is great with friendly staff. Guests are always welcome.
Try it.
