Offering friendly and professional help for your pain and discomfort from our team of Exeter based osteopaths. Our aims are to provide you with symptomatic relief as quickly as possible and to investigate any long-term cause of your problem. We will also help you understand and manage your symptoms and advise you, when possible, on how to avoid painful episodes in the future, whether it is back pain or any other area of discomfort.
The enormous twisting and compression forces which the baby is exposed to during the birth process can put a great deal of strain on its tissues. Cranial osteopathy is a refined, subtle form of treatment using gentle movements to release stress and strains throughout the body.

Following a career in the financial markets, he graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 1998 and returned to Devon, his home county, where he joined St David's Osteopathic Clinic. He uses a combination of cranial and structural techniques in practice and has a particular interest in working with expectant mums, children & babies.
We are a family-oriented group practice in Exeter. Our osteopathic clinic provides help for a wide range of problems, some of which are well-known as osteopathic areas of interest, such as back pain, neck pain and sports injuries.
Other areas are perhaps less well-known; these include the treatment of babies after difficult or lengthy labour, who might have symptoms of colic, sleeplessness or persistent crying, or older people who develop problems after illness, injury or operations. Our clientele therefore might be of any age from two days old to a hundred years or more.

These are conditions which we know are backed by research findings. However, this is a rather 'un-osteopathic' way of looking at things: there is always a debate in the osteopathic profession about the "treatment of conditions". In our clinic in Exeter we profess to treat people, not conditions. Why is this?
During pregnancy and birth, the body will have to accommodate enormous postural changes and forces. The combined weight of the baby and associated tissues can be up to 20 pounds. The necessary postural compensations allied with an increase in ligamentous laxity from hormonal changes can lead to discomfort and a wide range of symptoms.
The spine is a complicated structure with many types of pain-sensitive tissue in and around it. It is hardly surprising that it gives us all trouble sometimes. The commonest type of symptoms we notice in the back is the muscle aching we get from overdoing work or exercise - from digging in the garden, carrying heavy objects, playing sports, or maintaining a position too long at a computer or in a car.

I’ve used Exeter St David’s Osteopath’s before and they have always been great. I went today as I have been suffering with a severely painful shoulder which is interfering with my sleep. Paul has really worked wonders and the large area of discomfort I have been putting up with daily has reduced to a much smaller area. I’m hoping for a good nights sleep and one last treatment to rectify the problem. Recommend this practice highly

Suffering from lower back pain. I received good customer service whereby I was seen quickly and with ease. During my assessment/treatments, David was interested explaining and detailing to me the issues going on within in my lower back, helping me to gain a better understanding of my problem. Definitely worth the visits.

I was recommended St David's Osteopath Clinic after injuring my hip flexor. I made an appointment and went to see David.
David is a truly lovely guy, exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, chatty and lovely to talk to about many different topics (you could say it's my new social life) he is the kind of man you feel you've known for years. .
David has sorted out my hip issue tremendously, he keeps me in work as he keeps things moving without pain. I go to see him every 2-3 weeks and really look forward to it. I especially love the neck pulling and back cracking, I do look forward to that bit!

Have seen David at St David’s Osteopathic Clinic over several years - at some points for regular treatment for prevention/maintenance and at other times have sought his help for acute discomfort. I can’t recommend him and the practice enough, and found the sessions, even through pregnancy, really helpful and significantly improved my physical well-being.

I have been into David's practice on numerous occasions for various issues over the years. He articulates his findings well to help you understand the situation and best way to move forward. I would highly recommend David's practice for anyone looking for a friendly but above all high standard Osteopath. Thank you very much for your work David.

My partner and I have both been visiting David for years and we can't recommend him enough. He takes time to understand your symptoms and issues and I always come away from treatment feeling like a new man!
His kind and gentle manner will soon have any concerns you may have about visiting an osteopath for the first time at ease.

Have visited Dave throughout my Rugby career when having picked up any niggles or injuries. He has always sorted me out and got me back fighting fit again. Recommended my wife visited him when she had hurt her hip and o amount of physio was working.
David will assess and help with a treatment plan. Cannot fault him. I know he will always have my back(no pun intended).
