There has been an Opticians in Lavant Street, Petersfield, since 1928, when Mr. R. Phillips started working at 27 Lavant Street. His son John was born on the premises and inherited the optical business in 1963. He went into partnership with Brian Edgworth and the firm moved five doors up the road to 37 Lavant Street in the early 1970s.
Over recent months we have all had no choice but to engage with our phones, our tablets, our laptops and desktops. We use them for Zoom meetings, to catch up on TV, to watch films, to find the latest recipe or just to find out what Boris is up to. This means with immediate effect we are unable to offer routine appointments and have been advised to only admit patients by appointment and only for essential and urgent eye care. Practically, this means the first line of contact will be via telephone, as this will allow us to discuss your symptoms and needs in order to judge whether an appointment is necessary.
Modern eye care practices can now carry out a multitude of tests and checks to understand both your vision and the physical condition of your eyes, thanks to emerging technology becoming more available. One such example of this is Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). This is a hospital-quality scan using cutting-edge technology to look more closely at your retina.
Everyone needs good levels of light and as we get older these needs increase. Light entering the eye is focused on the retina at the back of the eye, which transmits the visual image to the brain. As your eye ages, less light reaches the retina. Most people aged 60 need three times more light than when they were 20.

I cannot recommend M-OC enough.... not only are their opticians affiliated to optical departments in hospitals (and therefore highly skilled and knowledgeable) but they are kind, generous and cannot do enough to help you.

This was my eight year old daughters first appointment at an optometrists following her being signed off from the children's eye dept at the hospital. Mrs Morgan-Owen was extremely patient, reassuring and knowledgeable about the additional aspects of my daughters eyes. She put us both at ease and I am very happy to have found this practice. Anyone with a child in need of an eye-test or any kind of prescription glasses needs Graham in their life. He has a saintly patience and has, for the last 8 years, ensured that visits with Jake - not the calmest customer in the world - are both easy, fun and something to look forward to. Started going here when my son was 2, he is now 9 and still loves going. Everyone is always so kind and professional, nothing is ever too much trouble. At one time when Samuel was younger we seemed to always be in there getting his glasses mended. Would definitely recommend anyone. I get my glasses from there now as well.

What a great little gem on Lavant street! Can't recommend more highly. Very friendly, very professional & very accommodating! My son Oli is so well looked after as well & just loves going to see Graham, the… negative is he only gets to go every six month's for his eye test & Mia is only aloud once a year........
