James Brothers Funeral Directors
James Brothers are the oldest family owned funeral directors in the Plymouth Area, having grown from the carpentry business of Ned James in the late 1870's. For the last 150 years they have been helping the people in the time of bereavement through the changing processes of the Funeral Industry.

Traditionally located in Brixton and the surrounding villages the company has recently moved to new premises in Plympton, while keeping strong ties with their traditional location.Although a lot has changed they still maintain the simple family led approach that was started by Ned all those years ago, and is carried on today by his great-grandson, Tim, and his staff.
Services
When a loved one dies, whether it is suddenly or after a long illness it falls on those close to them to arrange the funeral. It is a very emotional and stressful time, and there are many things that needed to be sorted out. Your funeral director is there to help you through the process, and should be able to help with most things, but there are a few things that you will need to do.
We are able to help you arrange the funeral you want for your loved one, giving support and aid when it comes to the paperwork and legalities that need to be adhered to. We can help in the traditional manner, overseeing all the arrangements in conjunction with yourselves, or we can offer advice and support depending on how much you want to do yourself.
With the price of funerals increasing seemingly every couple of months, it is becoming more important to think about the Future, to make sure the cost of your funeral is covered to save worry and hardship for loved ones down the line.

Although it is nice to think that savings and investments might cover those costs the harsh truth is, with the possibility of having to pay for care as we get older, and other unexpected 'surprises' like inheritance tax, the money we hoped would be left for our loved ones and to cover costs might not be what we thought it would be.The Funeral Plan is something that can alleviate this, and is becoming a growing part of the industry.
We try to keep our prices fair and competitive, and what follows is a simple breakdown and transparent view of our costs. There are always going to be those extra things that can be requested on an individual basis like flowers, newspaper announcements, limousines and anything else that the family might request.
