Moat House
Enjoying Grade II* listed status, this beautiful Tudor building was built by the Comberford family in 1572. The stately home, famously visited by Charles I in 1619 and the Beatles in 1963, now welcomes guests and those who wish to enjoy a drink from the fully licensed public bar. With an extensive range of gin, real ale and wine, it's a great pub in tamworth.

Moat House is an amazing place to host a corporate event in Tamworth, Staffordshire, Lichfield, and surrounding Birmingham areas. View our Live Beer Board showing Real Ale, Craft Beer & Draft Cider plus our wine, gin bar and cocktails menus. Our online gift shop 'Moat Merch' is now open featuring T-Shirts, posters, phone cases, cushions, mugs and bags.
Services
Need help? - No problems, just pop in to see us at the weekend (opening hours) or call us 01827 767 707 and ask for the events team. With a large capacity of 120 guests and a fully licensed bar, the large function room is perfect for wedding receptions and corporate events of all sizes (conferences, training and meetings) as well as leisure events (parties etc).
The Moat House in Lichfield Street, Tamworth, which was one of the homes of the Comberford family of Comberford, is a handsome Tudor Mansion of dark-red brick with mullioned windows and fine chimneys that has been described by one local historian as 'Tamworth's Elizabethan treasure.' Because of its watery site on the banks of the River Tame, it was necessary to build the house on a series of brick arches or vaults.
Our public bar is open Friday from 5pm to midnight, Saturday from noon to midnight and Sunday from noon to 8pm. Additionally, the venue is available for pre-booked events in our many function rooms any day of the week. Our event spaces are available for pre-booked events seven days a week. The first floor long gallery function room allows for larger groups (up to 100) with a private bar available.
We have installed state-of-the-art, Air ventilation system covering our main bar and flagstone and tiled areas. Not only does this system bring constant flow of fresh air, it pre-heats the air to provide a comfortable and exceptionally low noise air change. The system is 98% efficient at retaining building heat and optionally can adapt if needed to bring in more fresh air as the number of guests increases.
