Waughs Solicitors
Waughs are a well established local firm which has been providing legal services to businesses and individuals in East Grinstead and the surrounding areas since 1968. Our offices are located in the heart of East Grinstead and are some of the oldest and most stunning period properties in the town. You are welcome to drop in at any time during working hours to see us.

Our vision is to provide a top quality service, responding quickly to your needs with expert advice delivered in a personal, professional and friendly manner and at a competitive price. We pride ourselves on establishing and maintaining good relationships with our clients and you can be assured of complete confidentiality and professional integrity.
Services
Waughs is managed by its Managing Partner, Martin Groat, who has lived in the town since 1981. From its early beginnings Waughs has had a policy of providing friendly and helpful advice on all aspects of law. This policy has and will never change. The sooner you contact us - the sooner we can help.
Litigation can be a risky, time consuming and expensive business, so obtaining the right advice at the outset is important. We give realistic advice about your chances of success, balanced against the likely legal and other costs involved.

Where litigation can be avoided, we assist clients to enable them to take advantage of Alternative Dispute Resolution, including mediation, which can lead to a quick, effective settlement of disputes, without the need to go to Court. We provide representation at any Court, Tribunal or mediation appointments.
We advise on and prepare Pre-nuptial Agreements prior to marriage or civil union and Cohabitation Agreements for couples who wish to live together, rather than marry. Family breakdown and divorce is said to be one of the most stressful experiences in life. We advise and support our clients through this difficult process, with a professional, yet sympathetic and understanding approach.
Without a Will, you cannot easily control what happens to your estate when you die. Furthermore, if you do not make a Will, you will die "intestate". One of the consequences of that is that you do not choose who is to manage your affairs, as Executor, after you die. Your personal possessions or treasured items may not go to those whom you would like to benefit.
What happens if you become mentally incapable of managing your financial affairs? Or you may simply wish someone to have legal authority to act on your behalf because you are finding it difficult to manage your own financial affairs. A Lasting Power of Attorney enables you to choose someone, who you trust, to make decisions for you and to deal with your financial affairs and your property.

Clare Lumley handled my conveyancing on a not overly straight forward flat purchase. She kept me informed by phone, WhatsApp or email with every step of the process. Everyone at Waughs was friendly and helpful.
I am extremely happy with the service I received from Clare, I would 100% recommend her.

Waughs completed the Conveyancing and Exchange on our flat recently. We found then to be friendly and extremely efficient. They notified us either by phone or email in every step of the process. We would highly recommend Waughs for all work along these lines.

We used Edward for conveyancing recently and were really pleased we did. He got us through our sale and purchase with great professionalism, and ready to exchange way before our buyers below us in the chain who were all using call centre conveyancers. His assistant Veronica was amazing too, we had loads of issues with our buyers at exchange, and she was on the phone everyday to check in and reassure us with a bit of calm when we were totally stressed! I would 100% recommend Waughs for their conveyancing services. Yes they are more expensive than the ones your estate agent recommends, but being

We dealt with Clare Lumley regarding a house purchase. She was super fast and communicated via WhatsApp so anything urgent was flagged up and sorted. I'd 100% recommend Waughs and would always use them again.

I am currently being represented in a conveyancing matter by Edward Roos. I will happily change this review if the service improves.
Update: no contact from Edward after your comment and his assistant Veronica has just sent over incorrect paperwork.
Further update: Edward has called today to threaten libel action if this review is not removed. I have reiterated that I will be happy to update this review when his service improves.
