If you would like to play competitive golf either at New Mills or any other golf club, you will need to obtain a Handicap Index. A Handicap Index allows you to play golf on an equal footing with everyone else who has a handicap, regardless of your ability or the course you play on. To obtain a Handicap Index you need to play and record scores from a total of 54 holes.
A nice, relatively short par 5 to start with. This hole plays a little longer than the yardage suggests due to its elevated green. The tee shot is important if you want to go for the green in two so beware of the tree in the middle of the fairway! Hit your shot to the green too long and you have a tricky chip on the downward sloping green with bunkers lurking below.
An inviting starting hole and reachable in two for the longer hitters, a drive to the right half of the fairway gives a clear view of the green. Trees left and right await any wayward drives, correct club selection for second shot is vital a ditch awaits anything left or big. Shortest hole on the course but not as easy as you may think, club selection is vital to a very sloping green.

Great golf course on the edge of Derbyshire. Lots of different styles holes to challenge every level. Some of the views from the course are absolutely stunning. The par three 16th which is 230 yards off the yellows, down a steep hill overlooking the Manchester valley, on any given day, can be played with an eight iron, or as much as three wood, depending on the wind. Truly a fantastic course for a very enjoyable days golf.
